Having a problem tonight with my boy,he has extremely bad wind, more than ever. He has only had his normal tripe and mixer. But he has just been out in the garden and has slight diarrhea. But noticed he is walking a bit strange.I am assuming that maybe he has a bit of a tummy ache, although he is not making any noise but he is asleep on the setee.
He went to follow me up the stairs but couldnt seem to lift his back legs properly and also when climbing onto the setee his legs were quite stiff.
I will obviously make an appointment at the vets in the morning but wondered if anyone had any ideas meanwhile. I have just given him some natural yoghurt with some pro enzorb powder in it just to see if i can settle his stomach. He is 22 month old weim.

I would just be very careful and watch for any signs of bloat.

I have heard of bloat but dont really know what signs to look for.
He is a lot better this morning, still has loose motions but only gave him his tripe for breakfast , no mixer, some yoghurt and pro enzorb again.
Will keep a good eye on him throughout the day. Not taking him out for walk just to be on the safe side.

Sorry to intrude but does any one have any suggestiobns for reducing 'wind'? Polo has had quite a lot of it since he was a young pup. What is pro enzorb?

pro enzorb is a probiotic supplement to encourage digestive function. Its used to promote a healthy gut micoflora by re-colonising the gut with beneficial micro organisms in cases of bacterial overgrowth. Yoghurt can also be used on a daily basis for this type of thing, aiding digestion. But Pro enzorb is used more for bouts of diarrhea and stomach upsets, its a form kaolin.
I used it last year when my litter had a bout of diarrhea.
ALso my weim has a bit of a delicate stomach from time to time and it is good for rebalancing the stomach.
By the way , my boy is better, the only thing i can think that has upset him was drinking out of a puddle when out on our walk, he will always try to drink from it despite of telling him to Leave it.

Fagan used to suffer terrible wind, the only thing that stopped it was taking him off complete and putting him on BARF.  It could be something in his diet not agreeing with him.

Hopefully your dog is feeling better to day :)

Normally with bloat they can't actully go to the toilet, but sympoms are variable.

Here's a link about bloat - must have info for every dog owner IMO :)

http://www.dogs.info/healthcare/bloat.html

It is most common in the larger dog & dogs with deep chests, but any dog can get it, it is not age related and puppies can get it. It really is vital to know the signs of it, it requires IMMEDIATE medical treatment. If you ever suspect bloat, it is best to go to the vets rather than phoning them. Peoples dogs have died in the past from being told over the phone that the dog just had indigestion or had eaten too much food. IMO I would much rather spend the time & money taking my dog to the vet ASAP to be told he is constipated, rather than risk relying on a telephone diagnosis.
