Shady for the first time in her life had a little chase round in the field with another dog this morning .
For most of you it may be the norm but Shady I have really been working on for the last two years as she suffers with quite bad fear aggression.
I have got her so she will tolerate 2 old dogs we see over the field as they don't even bother looking at her, so she is happy to play frisbee off lead round them.
This little dog she hasn't seen for over 6 months until yesterday it was coming out of the field as we went in and she lunged barking at it.
This morning we were playing frisbee and it entered the field, last year it used to take no notice of us so I could leave Shady off lead with it, but today as Shady chased her frisbee down the field it chased her as she caught her frisbee she spotted it in persuit and dropped the frisbee and I could see her worrying but I stayed quiet and she set off chasing that then it turned and chased her and they done this just 3 or 4 times before that headed off to its owner and Shady got her frisbee and bought it back.
I had tears of joy in my eyes to see her actually play with another dog without any aggression from her. This is such a leap forward for her and I think because the little dog isn't overbearing trying to sniff or jump on her it really helped keep her just inside her comfort zone. She was not as relaxed in the playing as a normal dog but hopefully if we try and be at the field the same time each morning and they do this it will be the next step in getting her relaxed to actually play and build her confidence to move on to slightly more boistreous dogs.
I am so happy what a big thing this was for her and a fantastic start to my day.

Great news Bev (I've got a tear in my eye reading it!)

That's a huge milestone and a direct result of your patience, caring, hard work and understanding - you should be proud of yourself as well as Shady :) :) :)
Onwards and upwards!  Hopefully if she meets this other little dog more regularly she will grow better still in confidence - it's all for the good!

Very best wishes to you both,
Teri x

There nothing like seeing dogs enjoy each other company is there! Just hope she can enjoy a little run like that more often.

Ah well done - that is fantastic- I know the feeling as I went through this stage with a dog I had - lets hope you get many repeats,

Well done both of you!! That is really lovely to hear. I'm hoping to build up to something like that with my lad - he is fear agressive with other dogs and will tolerate some at training but won't play with them yet.

Let's hope its onwards and upwards for Shady with her playtimes.

Thanks everyone, it really was a big leap for her, but we still have a long way to go as since that she has tried to eat a Border Collie and two labs  . Still her behavour on lead towards them did stop the owners letting them off to hurtle at her until they entered the woods.
She was in the field playing frisbee this morning though when the little spanial turned up, but they both totally ignored each other. Shady just carried on playing frisbee and that just trotted past as if she wasn't there
Mean't to add Shady is my Rottie xGSD not the dog in my avatar who is my other dog Milo
