Polo's really been bothering out five year old male cat Holly today.Usually he might try and play but then leave Hols alone. But he's been licking, scratching at floor near and barking at Hols all day. It started last night after we returned after leaving Poles for about six hours; which we dont do very often (maybe every six months or more). Holly is perfectly well, in his prime with a glossy coat, white teeth , shiny eyes etc. Any suggestions as to why he might be doing this and what to do to stop him?

This is not going to be much help, but i will say that cats have the ability to jump up to places a dog cant reach. I often think Freddie is irritating my cat but she lays there and lets him. If at any time she doesnt want the attention she will jump up on the worktop. Is Polo bored and looking for stimualtion from the cat?? As i said i dont know so not much help im afraid.

Yeah, maybe he is bored, he 'prods' the cat with his nose to get attention, before leaping away in a play bow. The weird thing is the cat is actually starting to purr as Polo licks him? Maybe their finally bonding. Thanks for replyng, Fredsmum.(How's Freddie's clip looking? I'm growing Polesy back out!)

Sounds to me like the cat is liking the attention & if it means they are getting on well then thats good.
Fred is still quite short - much more practical in the damp weather but he's looking good. Will probably grow him out when the weather picks up.
Hows the rest of the training going with Polo? How is he now with recall etc?

My cat and dog are the best of friends. Sometimes my dog  play fight's with the cat but the cat loves it. It sounds like your dog has made friends with the cat and they may have been playing when you were out and the dog wanted to play again. Look at my two on this video.

Loved the video, it's great when they get on isn't it? Your cat reminded me of a little grey cat that we had years ago.

Thanks. she's just coming up to a year old on the 6th of April. she's a house cat and am shore she thinks she's a dog as I don't have any other cats. When I take the dog out, the cat cry's and cry's for him. she hates to be apart from him. so I don't take the dog out much. the dog seems ok with this as he likes romppimg round the house and with the cat. lol
