Topic Dog Boards / General / My god what a crazy man! And a little yay :)

Got back from the woods earlier, as per always I took all 4 dogs round the back-trails so that Soli could have a decent run without the worry of other dogs (usually anyway...).

We were most of the way round today when her and River nipped over a hill to the next bit of the walk and stopped - when I got over the hill I realised they'd stopped because there were two men at the foot of the hill with a couple of spaniels.

Firstly: YAY Soli for not charging at them!  Ok, she didn't recall at all, but she trotted up nicely.

Second: when I'd jogged up to them to grab her just in case, I realised it wasn't a couiple of spaniels - it was four puppies!  What looked like two springers and two wockers.  And when we all went separate ways, it seems all four belonged to one of the men, and he'd just run into the other bloke like we had him!  Good grief!  He disappeared off a different path with all four pups running round his feet, good as gold.

Crazy fool :-p I'm ever so proud of Soli though - we were stood for a minute or so chatting and she did bark at the wockers a couple of times and hackled, but stopped when she realised they were running past her, not at her.  A couple of well-timed treats helped too!  BUt she was absolutely ace, and came away when we carried on without a protest.  Woohoo!  I'm going to really get back into gear with her rehab now, we haven't done any since the end of summer (stopped after her chiropractic treatment to give her a break) and she's so much better these days, so I want to kick things up a notch.  One day I'd like to be able to go into the woods on the main path with all 4 without worrying about her!

Well done Soli :)
& well done you, her progress is down to your persistence, you deserve to feel as proud as you sound :)

It's great to hear about 'problem' dogs being taught to overcome thier problems (I don't mean it's great they have problems, I mean it's great there are people willing to give them a chance & help them :) ).

I think a 'wocker' is a working Cocker?? I might be wrong though..

Yep, it's a working cocker :-) and very cute they were too, both chocolate brown all over!
