Would have thought the stupid woman might have done a bit of homework before making comments!!  Imagine if football commentators were as bad as this!!  GIVE ME STRENGTH!!!

Shows what a hard faced female dog she is when she says call me Pebbles, Cliff etc. because she didn't cry at Yepa winning!

I think that is probably fairly typical of what can be expected from someone without much interest and clearly very little knowledge of pedigree breeds and the various disciplines enjoyed with dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds etc :)

Personally I didn't find it offensive (just silly and in places lightly amusing) as I think between the KC Crufts Committee and the BBC, Crufts has been turned into pretty much a circus type event - complete this year with a clown in the spotlight and taking centre stage LOL - so if those in authority can't portray a professional element we can't really expect to be taken seriously by anyone who has no active involvement or inside knowledge!

I cringed at much of the content in the tv coverage

I'm obviously not with the majority here but I found it fairly amusing.  As a dog lover but with little interest in showing it definitely seemed to catch the 'all dog people are bonkers vibe' that I often come across from non-doggy people. lol

it must be me ...I found it really funny !!! ...and did anyone see the photos that were posted as well ? - ....just ripe for a caption competition !!!!.

I think that almost any hobby can seem ridiculous to someone that is not involved or interested  I mean what is remotely interesting in walking around a field trying to hit a small white ball into a hole in the ground ? ...or indeed rushing about with a bunch of other men trying to kick a ball into a net ...all a supreme  waste of time in my book  and very silly too.

I found it quite funny too.  After all, dog showing must sem terribly strange to the average person in the street, and en masse, at Crufts, we appear to be litterally barking mad!!!  Did anone see the article in the Sunday Times on Crufts?  Interesting bit in it as a quote from Beverley Cuddy, who said Dogs Today had been refused official reporting status (or words to that effect) at Crufts this year, for publishign unflattering articles about pedigree dogs.  It does seem to me that there have been rather less of the anti dog pre crufts articles in the general press this year, but perhaps it was all overshadowed by the betting/"super-poodle" stuff.

I enjoyed it as well. Very much tongue in cheek, I did not find it offensive at all. It certainly made me chuckle a few times.

I read it as tounge in cheek, I wasn't going to be offended by a article written by a non dog person and found it amusing.

After all.  Think about it, what do we do?

spend lots of money and entering dogs, preparing dogs etc, We get up early to go to shows in all weather conditions to prance round the ring, only to get a peice of card and maybe a ribbon at the end, sometimes walking away empty handed!

Goodness!  the Bedlington got a slating   interesting how people hate the sight of them on TV or in Pictures, but when I take them out it's difficult to get more than 100 yards without someone rushing over to have a chat about them, ask about them, get 'down and dirty' with them :)  I've known cars screech to a halt and people come flying out shouting Bedlington! a bit intimidating at first, I thought the police had mistaken me for a drug dealer LOL

As for "no hair on their backs"  it may be short, but it's quite thick and stands out from the skin :)

I thought it was funny too - but I thought others might not - just to clear that up. ;-)

My old Spanish always has people thinking she's a Bedlington, wouldn't mind but she's white with black patches!

If I made my OH write a description of Crufts I suspect it would look a LOT like this - I thought it was very funny! :-D

Must say as it was obviously tongue in cheek it was funny.
