me and the other half, oh how we love our sbt, she is our second dog we gave her a much needed loving home just under two years ago, she is like our little daughter that we never had, (sounds daft i no) but she is sooo loving and well behavied, we had a mongrel for 18 years before we had to have her pts she was with us before the children came along and was a real treasure, then 5 years passes the children grew up (but not left home) and along came little miss spoilt. you would think shes the only dog on earth, dont get me wrong she has her bounderies but we love her and often ask how she is befor asking about ourselves, gone have the holidays abroad and now its holidays with dogs, i even wrapped her christmas pressies up and labled them!! please tell me im not the only obsessed dog owner here, oh and she sleeps in the middle of our bed i no i wont move her when she has all the room!!!!

hi I am new hear but I know how you feel I adore my dog he is our world he got his own bling from my dad's wife collar with his name on it very posh heee :) though he would sooner fun out side and roll in the dirt !

Hi Donna
Ha ha you are brave admitting your dog sleeps on your bed....MINE DOES TOO YAY!!!
But i'd never admit that to
anyone :)
OH and I have had him since end of Jan and he too is the child we are never going to have - (2nd marriage, my girls are grown, he hasn't any kids, i'm 'too long in the tooth' now etc )
Hubby has infact suprised himself at how he feels for him and gone are the days when I got a kiss first....:)
He is the smallest, most comical and affectionate little mite and hubby says he could spend all day watching him and being his playmate. I'm just so glad he feels that way.
But, he is a dog and we treat him like one (apart from the kisses and cuddles ). He's learning the rules, is socialising nicely, listens when we say no and hasn't started chewing the furniture yet!!!
The perfect little man....:) :)
hi
i have 5 SBT and usually 2 of them sleep with me but some nights i have all 5 shareing my bed! lol
nicki

I absolutely love my dogs to death!!!!! I would do anything for them
On payday, the first thing I ask myself, is do the pins need anything? Before I even look in my cubbies to see if I need something.
Also, they sleep in my bed, under the blankets. My one has her own Chair.
Cher, has a toy box full of toys!!!!!
People must get mad, when they ask whats new and exciting, the main thing is "oh you will never guess what Cher/Casie did!!"
Love em to death!!!!!
thank you all so much for your replys im so glad to know im not the only one who is totally goo lally over their dog. where is my dog now? well she has decided that just because im up doesnt mean that she has too , yes she is lying on the bed probally with her head on the pillow!!! ive never changed my bed so much. but bless her shes the best.

Really gorgeous and so sharp as well with training she makes me sooo proud i often have a cry when she does well! lol
We are getting our 2nd dog in March and he will be just as well loved as Mitz, and yes she does sleep on the bed on weekends and so will he!!!

Sounds like we all own pampered pooches :-)
Freddie has his own toy box, his own christmas presents and christmas dinner, neighbour (aka aunty sue) often pop up with a toy they saw for him and bought. He gets himself pampered at the groomers every 6 weeks and im constantly taking him to the pet shop to treat him. Yes, i too am guilty of spending money on him before i spend money on myself :-( haveno children, earn good money -whyn not. It doesnt harm anyone so why should we feel bad for treating our pets? My friends think im mad :-) :-) (they're probably right!!!!!)
Fred knows that on a Saturday and Sunday morning i dont have to get up for work so i go downstairs, wake him up, let him have a wee then carry him upstairs and we both go back to bed for a couple of hours. Apparently during the week he gets in bed with my Dad (who works shifts) for a cuddle :-). We then get up and i take him for a nice walk at one of his favourite jaunts - usually the beach or the woods. He sleeps on the car seat while i drive back from wherever we've been then he'll sit in the bathroom and i talk to him while i shower, then we either sit on the sofa and watch tele for the afternoon (fred usually sleeps) or i go out and leave him to his own devices at home.
Not a bad life hey???

I'm guilty as well - I am afraid all four of mine are spoiled (my children who are all married say the dogs are treated better than they were!!) Christ mas they have their presents wrapped up with their names on from us and my parents.Anything I think they need they have (within reason!)They have a box of toys.Mind you they do have to work for their treatsIn the evening three are on the sofa with me and Connie is with my OH on his lap (she also sleeps on our bed).
im sooo tempted to have another dog, but tess is so set in her ways now i worry in case she wouldnt take to another dog, but having said that she is great with other dogs when she goes up the woods she runs and runs and always returns when called, she will go up to other dogs and she seems to ask them if they want to play if not she thinks oh well your loss!!! she to has her own toy box and seems to know when its play time (usually 7 o'clock) in the evening, i work night shifts my oh days so she is rarely left alone in the house, when i come home in the morning she has her walk, food then more often than not shes up on the bed before me!! the only thing im strict with her is with her diet i feed her more heathy than ourselfs,, i love it when i buy her her favorite tug toy she is now on her third one since christmas, why do i keep buying the same one well cus she love tearing it apart!!! im looking forward to watchin crufts oh i wish i had a big house so i could have lots of dogs, i just love them.
I wrapped my dogs pressies too, and they all get presents from the family too. Those stockings you can get i still have some in the cupboard that havent been finished yet. For my most recent dogs birthday i trailed around town to try and find a cone paper hats couldnt find them anywhere. But we had a little tea doggy party with balloons and what not. Everytime i go food shopping they get a present wether it being a chew or a squeaky toy. I am considering for my boys 2nd to go to the butchers and see if they have any cow femurs or similar for him lol.
Whenever on the phone to relatives its always hows the dogs, boy sleeps on my bed which is murderous at the moment because he is moulting like mad, and when they bring on a chew and have a big slobbery wet patch yummy. always wake to him outstrecth on his bag legs a kimbo with paws in my face, best way to wake i think lol

I go out on a Saturday night with my mate and leave the dogs with my OH.... when I've had a few drinks and become all soppy, I find myself gazing lovingly at the video on my phone of my puppy.... I have been known to grab random strangers in the club and force them to watch. I become quite offended and waspy if they don't make the right sort of "Awwww!" noises.
aww its all so lovely to read all these lovely replys, thank you and keep them coming, tess is watching crufts at the moment, i dare my oh to turn it over for the football!!! has anyone got there dog as wallpaper on their mobile phone i have!!!

Hi, I have only posted a couple of times, but I read every day, we have an 11 month old boxer called Floyd, he is our first dog as "grown ups" and we absolutely adore him, he has been very poorly recently and we are now hoping he is turning a corner, but what none of us could believe was the depth of feelings that you get for your dog, he is like my second child, he gets more kisses than my OH, but he would say the same thing as well, so we are a very kissy cuddly household, he had the most Xmas presents, we all talk to Floyd in funny voices and has loads of little nicknames, I'm sure Floyd thinks we are as mad as he is, I think the only problem that has come about with "kisses for Floyd" is he thinks everybody wants kisses from him as well, so I just warn people to make sure they have there mouth closed unless they want a french kiss, yuk.... We absolutely love him to bits and wouldn't be without him for the world, he has made our lives so much more enriched, funny, mad and mad again
Jane
my oh blows raspberrys on tess's tummy, when he walks through the door and says 'hello darling' i never no who he is talking too me or the dog!!!!

I have had times of coming home drunk (not very often) of falling asleep in the dog beds curled up with a dog or 2 or 3 or 4 lol nothing better!! (but they do snore more than my husband) :-D
my 2 sleep on the bed, get wrapped xmas and b/day pressies AND cards from me too! i love them the same as my kids
I am guilty of having my dog as the wallpaper on my phone, and when friends started "oohing" and "aahing" over their phone at pictures of thier children, i get out my phone and show pictures of my dog!!! If people say have you got children i always answer "no but i've got a dog". When we were out once i got chatted up and my friend was stringing this bloke along for ages. He asked me if i had kids, my friends butted in and said yes a little boy, 10 months(meaning Fred). He was asking things like what does your little boy like doing (meaning my non existant child), and my friend was replying (meaning my dog) "oh he loves going to play at the park or run around at the beach!!!" Was sooo funny. :-)
Guilt also with blowing rasberrys on his tummy, sleeping with him on his bed, talking in a silly voice, going on a night out and ringing up whoevers got him to check he's ok. Absolutely mad but wouldnt want it any other way!!! :-)

I love my dogs more than anything, they sleep on (or in!) my bed. There is nothing I wouldn't do for them and I'm sure they'd be considered spoilt. :-)
However they are still treated as dogs, I buy toys/treats for them but I would never wrap them up as presents or buy cards for my dogs like another poster. They're dogs, they cannot read!
They have coats but these aren't patterned or fluffy or hooded(!), they only wear them when the weather forces it.
just because i send cards (to make me feel better!) they are still dogs and they only have raincoats in the rain so its easier to dry them, they dont have fluffy coats either

Have to admit to buying a few coats as his own is very very fine and he shivers like anything- a wax jkt. a parka, a fleece and a puffa. Hubby will only walk him in the fleece and puffa ( not puffy at all!! ) cos they are black. My daughter calls him a chav when we put the parka on him ( its cammo :)) and we cant wait til his fur is thicker so we can do without coats. but he does look so cute :) I think in winter, when its rainy etc. we will still have to put a coat on him....
Oh yeah....some of them do have hoods, 1 even has sleeves :( but we've taken them off!!!
tess has a lovley waterproof coat but hubby and boys wont walk her in it (not cool for a staffie to have a coat on) but i do if its really cold and wet. talkin of spoiling her i have to put our dinning room chair in the window so she can look out and of course its the carver chair so she can rest her head on it!!!!!
angelbern --- i wish my hubby would blow raspberrys on my tummy!!!!! cant wait to get tess swimming pool out for the summer,, dont worry its only a liitle one but she loves to have the extra water in the garden to drink from and play gettin the ball from the bottom.

as i sit here my three have gone to stay with a mate for the weekend so i can go the crufts for the first time.
the house is so quite is horriable and im missing them already and its only been 4 hours!!!!
i buy mine christmas gifts and wrap and tag them.
i dont know what i did with my time before i got them.
I love Molly everything.
When I leave her in the mornings I always say, bye Molly, see you later, be a good girl, love you everything...if anyone heard they would think I'm bonkers!
Molly sleeps on my bed & always has her head on my pillow when I open my eyes in the mornings! After afternoon runs we both sit on the settee & watch countdown & deal or no deal...we love our routines!
When I left her at the vets to be spayed the house felt empty & couldn't wait for her to come home.
She is treated as a dog though, but she is my baby & is my everything & I always tell her how much she is loved!
Can't believe I written this all down...

I love this thread cos people are proving how trully soppy they are over their dogs :)
OH and I woke this morning to sleepy-head spread out parallel to the pillows on his back with his head buried in OH's neck. Snoring his head off as usual. OH smiled and whispered he snores louder than me :( I slapped him...

Was thinking about Molly the other day - is her paw all better now?
That's so nice of you to ask Zarah :-)
She's fine now...I took the dressing off & let fresh air & doggy saliva take their course!

love my dogs more than anything...holidays, chocolate, nights out, life, we are one and without each other are nothing! love them all in there diff ways, too bits if they were chocolate I'd eat them up.....
My other half & i love our dog. He gets xmas gifts wrapped up, his own xmas card & birthday card. My neighbours send him cards & this xmas he got more gifts then either of us LOL. All our frinds brought him treats & toys, all wrapped & placed under the tree...mind you had to move them in the end as he could smell them :) Our cats are the same...equally spoiled & also have treats/toys at xmas & cards. I'm mad about pets. Oh yeah they also have their own toy boxes with their names written on them (a friend of ours did Boston's box & so the cats had to have one to).

I cant even begin to expalin how much i love my dogs...
My two that have gone to the bridge.. well i idolised them.
I miss and love them always
BUT my ones that are here
they are loved and pampered always
One of our staffies 'saffie' is idolised by my husband.... he will ring the house just so saffie can hear his voice... he sleeps on the sofa with her! He goes home early just to make sure shes ok... do you think he is obsessed??
Sometimes... i think i like my dogs more than my daughter! (sorry chanellex)
Donna x
(and my boysxx)

Oh gosh! How do I love thee, let me count the ways............ (excuse the misquote), I spend more in the butchers on their food than on ours. I have had the whole of the downstairs floor replaced with a good, commercial grade laminate mainly because it is cooler for them to lie on not to mention easier to clean. I lie on the floor with them for cuddles because I do not allow them on the furniture. I have replaced the driveway gate with one that they can see out of just so they can watch the world go by. The biggest proof of how much I love them is................. I get up at 5.15 every morning just so they can have a good long walk/run before I go to work (pretty incredible if anyone knew me pre-doggie ownership)! (It's not just about the amount of cash they cost) :D

I love my dogs an awful lot, I don't think it's possible to love them anymore.
I never forget that they are dogs. But I still talk to them in stupid 'baby' voices when they are having a cuddle.
Both my dogs get a wrapped present at Christmas, that is left under the tree with thier name on. They get pressies from us & my sister, we also get my sisters dog christmas pressies.Even though they are dogs, they pick up on the excitement, they love opening thier presents, OK they don't know what it means, but they have a lot of fun ripping off the wrapping paper to find a new toy :)
We have changed our car to give the dogs more room in the boot. We spent a fortune on large rugs & runners to cover our laminate flooring, to make it safer for the dogs to walk/play on. Despite several attempts at re-turfing the lawns, we now let the dogs dig up the garden - they enjoy digging :)
My Oh gets a bit irritated with me at times, he gets annoyed that the dogs seem to come before him & the kids & gets bored with me talking 'dogs, dogs, dogs, all the time - but I explained to him that owning a dog is a
huge responsibility, we are solely responsible for thier health & well being - I
have to ensure thier every need is met ;)

Sorry - I'm gonna have to say something slightly off topic here - How bizarre is it that your username is Tessisbest, and you have a Stafford... AND my name is TessiesTracey and my Stafford is called Tess too!
Just had to mention it!! :-D
oh TessiesTracey how strange is that!!! but fab eh.. what they say about great minds. is your staff a red by any chance?
Well, I love her at least as much as my children and Fiance. My Fiance loves her just as much as he lvoes me, so a lot too!
I didn't even want a dog before we got her, my OH did. I cannot put into words just what a big part of my life she is.
She does get treated like a dog though. She is allowed otget as wet and mucky as she likes, and although I seriously doubt she even needs a coat, she certainly isn't having one. I will be sending all her puppies birthday cards though. :-)
oh TessiesTracey how strange is that!!! but fab eh.. what they say about great minds. is your staff a red by any chance?
Hi Tessisbest, no both my Staffords are black/black brindles...
they are just the best dog ever. sooo loving

Well, I am a dedicated cross country skier and this year, due to puppy-boy being too young to keep up if I'm on skiis, I haven't skiied since early January. We are having one of the best ski seasons in YEARs and I'm missing out on it. And I don't care. That's how much I love the little monkey.

Can see you will be Skijoring next year though :D
i must say a BIG THANKYOU to everyone who has written on this thread it has been a absolute pleasure in reading all your lovely stories about loving your dog, i hope many of you have enjoyed reading them as much as i have
