Topic Dog Boards / Health / Sore patch under tail
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 03.03.08 21:46 UTC
My girl has somehow chewed a small sore red patch under her tail right at the base. I've put some soothing cream on and am stopping her from chewing with an e-collar, but she's claiming that she can't move at all with the collar on. When my Yankee had to wear a collar he just barged happily around the house with it on, but she just freezes in a sit or stand as soon as we put it on. If we just ignore her she will reluctantly wobble a few steps or lie down, but she really is playing it for all it's worth!! I tried a bandage but it didn't stay on long! A babygro / oneise type thing won't work as it's right at the base where the hole is. Any ideas, or do I just watch her like a hawk while we are home and suffer the wounded looks when we have to go out and put it on her??

Lucy, When Beano was neutered he did the exact same thing!!!! He barged once, and after that would not move a muscle in anyway when it was on :(
Ebba on the other hand barged around catching all of our legs!!!!!
I use dto watch Beano like a hawk when around, and put the collar on when I couldnt watch him!!
Has she got problems with her anal glands???
Lea :)

I did find they needed emptying (she's a Cavalier so I check regularly anyway) but she hasn't done this before when they've needed doing. It looks less red this morning but she's not moved a muscle since I put it back on after letting her have it off to wee in the garden, silly thing.

I wonder if she could wear it for Downstays.... :-D
