I am fed up of losing dog tags, I seem to be replacing them every couple of months or so and they're not cheap to buy.  So I'm thinking about trying the type of tag that slides on to a leather flat collar.   I have seen some on other peoples dogs that have been brass.  I wonder if you can get much engraved on these types, as I like both sides of my round disc engraved with lots of info.  Does anyone on here use this type of tag?,  do you need a special collar to put them on?.    Where can you get them from?   Any thoughts?

I've got the normal disc ones of these and find them really good.  they also do the one's that slip onto a collar as you describe

I haven't used the ones you describe, however, I have never lost a tag and my dogs are active goldens that do everything in their collars and tags. I used to buy from the kennel club but Brainless put a link up to these and they're fantastic. Very sturdy.

Oops I can't link directly to the tags. Just follow the dog tags to the Deluxe reinforced ones.

I used good old pets at home for my dog tag. Got it engraved plus the tag for about £6. Touch wood its lasted for the whole year ive had my dog and gets washed(along with his lead) and has not come off at all.
Maybe im lucky :-)

I got both of mine from Identitag as well.
They are good as the brass is engraved and then filled, rather than the coloured ones that have a tendency for the info to wear off as the tag gets scratched.

Very quick service too!  And they will engrave both sides.

I have used Indigo tags and they were brilliant, they are done in silver and are nicely engraved with loads of room and are replaced free of charge if the engraving starts to fade due to wear and tear.

Thanks  guys,  I'm going to go for the flat ones that slide onto a collar.  Good excuse to buy new collars as well,  nice leather ones from luxway took my fancy!!

I have had mine for years and only managed to loose one of the five I bought (the split ring broke), four of them are now 8 years old and as clear as when new.

i got mine from the guide dogs website.
although they arnt on the site there now you can still buy them as i have just two weeks ago.
they engraved them for me with 6 lines at 24 letters per line ( i think) and they cost about 8.00 each.
I know thats quite pricy but my older boy has had his for 5 years and even were's it while swimming etc and it still as good as new.

indigo tags are great, they are guaranteed for life, my boys wear theirs in the sea and everything and they are still like new.  They are also good for agility because they fit flush to the collar rather than dangle as its against the rules for any dangly bits on collars.

I do pyrography and put the name of the dog directly onto the collar.Inside the collar I put our  telephone number and name...this way the details cannot be lost from the collar.
