My pup who is now 5 1/2 months seems to be having problems with his water works. He does not poo indoors unless we fail to see the signs. However he pees and pees and pees..... He will go outside and pee for ages and 5 mintues later do a small puddle. He comes to work so has many chances to go out. We are ALL doggie people and several of the girls seem to think he does not realize he is leaking. Most of the time when the accidents occur he does not squat or lift a leg. Just when he is standing it just seems to come. One girl said ...he was walking stoppped for the briefest of moments and there was a pee about the size of a 50pence piece. She says he did not act like he was even aware he had done it.
This is a VERY VERY bright pu and I am finding it hard to believe he is wetting on purpose. He knows ..sit, down, paws, twist, turn, wait, stay and back up....plus a few others and is used as an example to other puppy owners in class. So he is far from stupid and I think would know better.
I have even restricted his water intake quite a lot at one stage to see if that helped him "to get it".
I am going to ask the vet this week what they think about it and get him checked over.
But if it is a bladder weakness....How does one cope with that as the dog get older? As a puppy doing small wee's it is easier to deal with. I am not sure what to do for the little guy. He is a cross Pom/Sheltie and is so full of fun and smarts....would hate to think he would have a problem like that.
Any ideas or experience to share would be great!!
