Arden Grange is my favourite.

As I mentioed in your other post. My bitch and some of her puppies in their new homes are being fed James Wellbeloved. It seems to suit them and I would feed it to any other pups/dogs I had unless I found it didn't suit them.

I do think with dog food you get what you pay for, (except int he case of Autarky) and it really is a case of finding what suits your dog best. I know people who use Arden Grange, Royal Canin, James Well-Beloved and Autarky all with good results.

what was your puppy being fed on at the breeders? It would be best to stick with that when he first comes home (you usually get given some anyway) and then if you really need to change over it has to be done over a period of time. There are many good foods out there, but different foods suit different dogs so it is a case of seeing what suits your dog best. What breed is he?
Forgot to say that mine are fed on Pro plan Lamb and rice and that suits them fine!!

what is making you change? the cost of food or is your dog not suiting? the only reason I asked the breed was because with larger breeds you have to be careful of what is fed because of their rapid growth.

was going to change because i havent heard great things about iams as they have additives etc in nd are not very nutritious.  dont mind about the cost as she wont even eat much full grown so not too bad!x

Apart from a brief flirtation with James Wellbeloved, I have always fed my two on Burns.  As puppies they both had minibites and they are both thriving.  Their coats are silky smooth and their stools are firm.  However, I don't believe in a diet entirely based on dried food, so for their evening meal they have Naturediet with an added bag of steamed veg or green beans.  Naturediet do a puppy food.  They also have a fish4dogs sea jerky every day and a tiny bit of fresh cooked chicken breast as a training treat.  I use Burns because it is not tested on animals (do some googling to find out about some other brands!) and contains no harmful additives such as preservatives.  It is also lower in phosphorus which is good for kidney health (the mini bites are a bit higher because puppies need it for their bones).  I have heard some very good reports about Arden grange, but it is a little high in protein for my liking - just a view.

my malamute puppy is on purina one puppy food. Not the cheapest but because I cant give my puppy wet food (as these breeds seem to not tolerate it) Purina one is dry food but actually rather moist,. the biscuits are quite soft. My dog loves it and appears to be doing well on it, firm stools and bright healthy coat!

I switched to AG from ProPlan a few months ago - its much better value and Polo is doing great on it, even the vet commented. So can recommend it.

Hi,
I use pro plan to wean and puppy food up to 9 months then I change them over to adult as mine is only a small breed, they can get over weight if they stay on puppy food too long.

A friend of mine has always fed Iams and her lab has the best coat I have seen! :-)

If it agrees with your dog I would keep her on it, once you start changing foods it can become a nightmare! ;-)

I feed my staffie burgess Supadog dry food.. and he loves it always eats all of it no worries. I feed him about 225grams a day on this stuff.. Is this the right amount as the vet said to feed him roughly that much each day which is less than what is said on package... also has anyone heard of this food ? If so is it a good food ?  I have tried other food for him like James Wellbeloved but he dont really like it that much and can give him tummy upset.. this is the only food that hasnt done yet.

If it agrees with your dog then I would stick with it! :-)

If he isn't losing weight and doesn't seem hungry and is full of energy then I would say the amount was right. The packet advice is just guidelines but you are a better judge when it comes to your own dog. :-)
