Hi All, my girl is now on day 49 and is, well getting very big. Thing is I have been feeling for movement and to date only been feeling tiny "flutters." Am I expecting too much at day 49 or pehaps feeling in the wrong place. Any tips or advice very welcome.

Another question, how many of you give glucose to the bitch to drink during and after the actual whelping?

Thanks, Aimi x

Expecting too much, movements should start to get more noticable from now on :)
Yes, I give Glucose during and after whelping :)

I hardly ever see or feel movement in my bitches, they need to be very relaxed.

my girl has had movement from exactly 7 weeks from the day of mating ( last saturday) and last night she was having a snuggle on the sofa with me resembling a large pot bellied pig, and her tummy was moving a gret deal, lots of movement, mainly towards the bottom 2 sets of nipples, she is a girl that likes to show her belly off, and i think its a lot more comfy for her on her back, so i get to see a lot

Ditto the others, to be honest it is only generally in the last week or so that I can see the pups bubbling all over her :-) when laying on her side and as said only when relaxed.

I've never given glucose.

Good luck with the forthcoming litter, how exciting. :-)

OK, so who gives glucose when whelping and can you tell me is it in powder form or tablet and what ratio and, sorry last thing, where do I get it from?
Thanks x

I dilute it with water as per the packet instructions.

Where do you get ir from?
Thanks, Aimi.

You can get glucose from your chemist in powdered form. For a quick burst you can  give glucogel which is in a gel form. I always carry this with me when working the dogs, especially the spaniels in case they get hypoglyceamic.

glucose powder can be found and bought at Morrisons :) in the baking/ingredients part of the aisle.
