Can anyone tell me if German Shepherd females get on well with other dogs. Of all the female german shepherds I know and I own one they seem to like to fight with other dogs.

Also information on prey drives as mine hates dogs running round fast and tends to pull them down by their necks.

I would say it all depends on the amount of socialsation they have had as pups. I have a male GSD and I do find he tends to get on better with other shepherds, but we mix with several others of both sexes and the females are ok with other dogs too, my boy does like to get to know other dogs in his own time but normally settles with them. My shepherd bitch used to hang over dogs when she was younger which is a sign of dominance, but generally got on with other dogs, as ingrid has said it depends on how much you socialise them as puppies, i didnt get lady until she was 7 months old as i rescued her but after taking her to classes and such like she was fine.

My gsd Bitch is fine with other Bitches if they are fine, If you know what I mean!:) But if they are snappy she will go back.
In Fact at one time, my mum had a gsd, now gone, Bless her, And ours got on fine together, all the time.:)

My breeder thrives on her bitches (to keep her line) and they're all fine together- they all have a ranking though:) I would think that yours too would be fine they may have a scrap at some point to establish 'pack' ranking;) I wouldn't say they were cowardly though if you know what I mean:)

Mine gets on well with other dogs and she's a nervy rescue - I think like others have said a lot is down to socialisation and how you are with them. She did try the whole dominance hanging over the neck thing with my lab but she was soon put in her place and has not been a problem since.
