Not sure on breed specifics, but typical age could be anything from 6 months to over a year, depending on the individual dog.  My rott mix was 8 months (I think!) when she had hers, but my labXcollie was 14 months.  I believe generally smaller dogs mature earlier - but my rott is a 30kg adult, and my labXcollie is a 20kg young adult (22 months), so it is very variable.

14 months did not realise they sometimes could be that old. my pup is 11 months and she had not had a season yet.

check with her breeder when her mum/sisters/any close female relatives started. theres variation even within breed and the most accurate comparison would probably be family. my eldest bitch had her first season within a week of her litter sisters, who all started at the approx same age as their mum. then our youngest (bred from our bitch) started at the same age as her mum.

Some bitches can be older than that 18 months or more not uncommon in some breeds.  Wish mien waited that long..

As others have said check with your girl's breeder as it can very.

Our ESS girl has just come in at 8 mths which is what we expected having been told by the breeder, any breeder worth their salt will be able to give you a good indication.  However there are always the odd exception.

Cheers

Oh don't!  My youngun came into season the week before I picked her up - so new hormones and a new home with other dogs (she was alone before) all at once, poor thing.  She coped admirably!

Not so easy this time round though - she just started standing today, so no more daylight walks for the next fortnight.  It's just too risky round here - there is nowhere I can walk her where I wouldn't risk running into off-lead dogs, even on pavement walks.  She's not impressed!
