Does anyone have any tips for putting eye drops in a dog that goes mental?
I have to put them in twice a day for a week but its pretty much impossible. I put the muzzle on her and hold her down but she still tries to nip through the muzzle and she fidgets so much its impossible to get the drops in the eyes! I've wasted so much of them now and they're expensive =(

Do you try and approach her from the front, or do you sit behind her and try and go in over her head from behind? Can you follow that? :) Personally, I would sit on a seat with her between my legs, facing away from me. I would use my knees and heels to steady (clamp) her. Then holding her muzzle with one hand, turn her head slightly upwards/backwards towards me. With my other hand, I would go in over her head (resting my hand on her skull to steady my aim) and drip them in. This way you are not pinning her down as such, and she will not have a huge amount of time to react, when she sees the dropper coming. The chair and your legs will stop her backing away from you. The clue is to be quick and try and give her as little warning as possible that is what you are going to do. When I have done, I would make her sit there for a few seconds and make a fuss of her before I release her.

Thank you, I will try that. I was pinning her up in a corner against the wall before because that's the only thing I could think of - but your way sounds a lot easier!
Another thing I found helps is instead of letting her have her eye open to see the drops coming - hold her eye shut for a few seconds while i get the bottle close to the eye then open her eye and drop them in as soon as its opened. This makes it a little less stressful for her.
I hate putting in eye drops too so I know how horrible it is for her when you can see the bottle pointing directly at you and you know the drops are coming..
Only another 6 days left for her to put up with it =)
I put my dogs eye cream in when she was asleep! In Mollys case I just pulled down the the bottom lid & popped it in. Maybe worth a go.
Hi
I have just had to do this with my 7 month old Westie, trying to get in eye drops was an absolute nightmare. In the end my friend cuddled him and I held out half a digestive biscuit, whilst he was busily scoffing this down I popped them in by lifting his eye lid, what originally took me 30 mins was now done in 10 seconds.
