Hi Sharon,
I have PM'd you. Sounds very interesting.

Hey Perrodeagua,
I have always wondered how much eye site or hearing problems cause aggression. My vizsla for example started to get aggressive when she was startled by a fast moving objects but can see squirrels etc... very easily. I am sure her hearing is fine as she can hear the treat bag rustling from miles away.
I think this is why vet appointments are so important when aggression is involved however some vets do a very quick check and then refer to a behaviourists. Perhaps behaviourists should insist on full blood test, hearing and eye tests. Just a thought.
All the best
Anna

It wasn't until I had one of my dogs eyes checked by a specialist for something completely different that I found out that there was a problem!!! Her lenses had never developed from birth so she cannot see people etc. properly when they are close up. This is why she walks into a room tail up, wagging etc. and will dive on people, but if they bend down to her she goes mad, because she can't distinguish them!
She's a great gundog though. But I always wanted her to show but that unfortunately is out of the door as she doesn't like people going over her!
Hi, I went to this seminar last Oct, found it really interesting, and on day 2 several dogs were assessed (one of them being mine!) - basically she said with all of them that they were 'sky high on protein', apparently 18% is plenty - my dog was on 23% at the time, with Butchers meat added, so probably about 30% in total, obviously way too much. She also said these dogs were seeing themselves as the leader, so to teach them to walk behind you, and to keep them behind if another dog approaches - so I am still in the process of doing that - easier said than done! My dog has also been on plain Mixer 11.4% since Oct, to calm him down from being so hyper, but not really noticed much difference so far, will persevere though! Apparently it takes about 6 weeks to get the 'high protein' out of the system. Barbara is really good, she knows so much about dogs and how they think, I would definitely go again if I had another problem dog!
