Pets@home sell them - they're not very competitively priced but according to the blurb on the back of the box they recommend 28x19x21 or 31x21x24 (LxWxH) for a beagle, so I imagine that would be about right for a Staffie.

They're made by Rosewood, which is a good make, and have the codenumbers 02031 or 02026.

stacey-if you do a google search -dog cages uk, i think theres a few sites come up, on some they tell you the size for the breed, once you know that you can pop around comparing prices,--be careful of fastenings though, some arent as good as others-same as if you're going to be carrying it, some are much heavier than others, :D

They recommend crate number 02048 48x31x34 for a fully grown GSD.

You can buy it direct from Rosewood and it costs £154.95 + postage.

Depending what you are suing to for and how long I think influences the size you would need.

I have a large one but 2 off my dogs go in it at the same time especially when they have been out in the mud for 15 mins till htye have dried off..

I'm wondering which one to get my pup at the moment, so I've been spending a little time searching round. Croft have some reasonable looking ones on their newly updated site, too. I've been looking at the individual panels there as well, but think I'll stick with a proper crate.

Irene just got one form the above sight and it is great it has a double tray so that any dust , dirt etc falls through to a lower bit and it cleans easily.. I am sure it was the £30 one it looks real nice also.

I need to get another one as my 2 are sharing the big one. I have only been showing one of them so need to get a smaller one I can take with me..more to carry..

Pam, is Irene's the black coated crate? That's the one I was thinking of getting because I thought the double tray sounded like a good idea - no paddling in any wet puppy makes, it just goes through to the bottom tray.

Yes Irenes one is the balck coated with the double tray. I was up at her new caravan 3 weeks ago and she showed me it. It is excellent. That is the type I am going to get. It was really really sturdy also. She must be at her caravan just now or she would have posted about it as I think dhe couldn't believe how good a quality it was for the money.

I probably don't need to tell you to remember to buy the one that suits your dogs adult size..

Tilly, I reckon if everyone is right about using crates properly, your dog is going to fall in love with his new "den" and you/he will want it around when he's fully grown. Croft have various ranges and have the Showman folding crates which look reasonable. They have one supposed to be suitable for a Staffy for £49.50, at https://www.croftonline.co.uk. The one I'm looking at on Stock Nutrition's site is a similar size at £49.95 http://homepages.enterprise.net/stocknut00000/stocknut00000/black.htm.
I would just be sure you're happy with the sizing as they recommend this size for a border collie, too, yet my breeder goes for much bigger crates for her bcs.

I have croft cages, rosewood cages and argos cages for my bullies, the argos one is fine. Well worth the money. In fact only just been and bought another this week, you never know when I might need a spare!

I bought 2 from Profleece at Crufts and have been very pleased with them. http://www.bedding.demon.co.uk/ They're a good price, 2 doors and come complete with fleece to fit.

Have you thought about building your own crate.
I built mine for about the third of the cost of a new one .
I went to various places looking at all the designs,took measurement,found a metal retailer ( If you find a good retailer and ask nicely they may cut the steel to size)
I am lucky I have my own welder, It took me a day , but if you look in the local paper ( normally under car repairs) you will find someone who will do the welding for you ......its not a major welding job and if the metal is all cut to size you will still save a fortune, and if you are really creative,you can totally customise to your own desires.

I too have made my own crate - which folds down, you just need to get it so that the sides fold at all different levels - it was for GCSE coursework so i used all the schools equipment and a local plating company plated it for me for free (think would only normally be around £10 through). i found it very simple to do (once i had worked what i was supposed to be doing!) and would easily do it again if i still had access to the right equipment
