Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Home alone with raw bone

My fridge freezer packed up last night which left me with a knuckle bone that has now thawed out. By the time I get home from work tomorrow it may start getting a bit smelly!
I know we are supposed to supervise dogs with bones, but do you think I'll be able to leave the bone with my dog when I go to work in the morning. She is a powerful jawed dog.
Thanks

Personally I wouldnt - you can always get another bone - but its not so easy to replace your dog should something happen whilst you were at work - you wouldnt be able to forgive yourself.

You're so right...I did have serious doubts, but just needed at bit of backing!
Thanks

I leave marrow bones down all the time, they start off outside and supervised but just in case of arguments. After a few hours when the bones are no longer bleeding they can bring them in the house. I don't lift them before I go out. I have had some leg bones splinter but never knuckle bones.
