Yuk! both my dogs have fleas! i thought the nibbling one was doing round her bum was anal glands and i couldnt see dirt on her neck and then she rolled over--loads of fleas around her tail and bum! i feel guilty that i didnt notice sooner, anyway, out came the frontline even though i did do it a month ago and low and behold 3 days later some little sh**ts are still alive! is this normal? i washed bedding hoovered house etc. asked at vets whether i should shampoo but she said it could interfear with frontline. any ideas please?

My dogs had fleas a few months ago too... though they weren't treated... (they are now). I talked to my vet about treatments and he said that he now always uses Advocate as it appears that fleas are getting more and more immune to frontline as it is such a common treatment. This might be the case with yours... so it might be useful to try another treatment - though if yours is a collie or collie type, you have to be careful with some treatments.

Advocate is Ivermectin derived so I woudl be careful with collies.

Have you treated the house though with a household spray that inhibits reproduction.  Frontline will kill fleas within 24 hours, so you could be seeing fresh ones that have hopped on (80% of the fleas will be in the environment not on the dog).
