Mitz for the first time last night had a baby come into the home. 

Jacob who is only 2 months old is the new son of our best friends who came down for Christmas and I have to say she made me very very proud. :)

When they first came into the front room she was crated to stop her saying hello in an excited way as she usually does IE doing the staffy licks, she whined for about 10 mo's wanting to meet the babe but we vowed to keep her in there till she stopped complaining and wound down.

10 Mins later she was calm so we let her out, apart from a couple of attempts to slowly climb onto the persons lap of who ever was holding the baby she was sooo good.
First of all she would skim past and just have a small sniff of his trainer before we shooed her away or someone distracted her with a toy, and gradully she was allowed to be let closer and closer (This is her first ever meeting of a new born! You can never be too careful!  ) and by the end of the night, about 6 hours later, she was sniffing his head and giving tiny gentle licks to his ears completely calm and loving, all supervised of course. ;)

Even when he was being changed (after the first time being put away again so she could watch from a distance) she just layed all casual on the sofa watching, but not fixed on him, and making no attempt to get up and invesigate the baby laying on the floor waving his arms round and gurgling, she was not really intrested by the end of the night until he cried for a feed and she became very alert and tried to lick him again, so sweet seeing her being maternal and motherley. Dont get me wrong we wouldnt leave her alone with him but we feel confident of her now and our mates were so chuffed and impressed. So the night was wonderful and so successful.

I just had to sing her praises as she did so well without any real telling off's apart form the climbing which she very quickly learnt wasnt allowed after her 2nd weak try, and by the end of the night before they left I was feeding Jacob his bottle with Mitz laying next to me asleep with her head on my lap next to his legs. :D
