Sorry I know its xmas and the time to be jolly but i have to have a rant....... I came across someone advertising their 4 year olddog for sale and it says that she can be used for breeding or pet grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
How irresponsible and un caring can some people be, no doubt some puppy farmer will jump at the chance to own her and breed umpteen litters from the poor girl!
I wish i had enough room and time to take all these poor dogs from these unscrupulous people and give them the home they so deserve!
Sorry rant over.
I had an hour with nothing to do today so was trawling the adds, (like you do :-D ) have to admit I've seen about 4 dogs I want to rescue, I shouldn't keep looking, like you I just can't believe what goes on, it makes me so sad and cross, but what can you do? :-(
I've also seen an older dog of a breed I love wanting a new home, I'm on the verge of telling hubby I'd love it for Christmas, but it wouldn't fit in with my immediate plans:rolleyes: so I'm going to have to pretend I didn't see it. Whyyyy do I even look. :-(
I know, I find it sooo sad! I look at their poor little faces and feel angry on their behalf!
one person was selling a british bulldog for a lot of money-- six years old!! i wrote and said they cant be serious, most only live to be six and they wrote back and said they live 11 or 12 years! im no expert but surely not true? poor dog and some other breeds are 5 and being sold, so sad.
forgot to say what also upsets me about selling older dogs is the list of stipulations, must have 'forever home, be only dog, no young kids, someone home all day, someone with time to exercise, time to train etc etc. so why couldnt they do all this??
It upsets me more when they don't have any stipulations!
I often trawl the ads when I have too much time on my hands too. I shouldn't, as it really upsets me, and Ijust want to go round and scoop all of those dogs up and give them a permenant, truely loving home. Obviously that can't happen.
There was a lady advertising two litters near me a while ago. Same breed, and same as mine. I had rung her on behalf of someone else (and partly out of curiosity!) to find that her dogs were 'part of the family, ever so loved' although it turned out none of the bitches or dogs (her friends males!) were health tested. Anyway, a month or so later (the pups would have been 6 weeks old) one of her bitches was advertised for sale. She only had two bitches, so it was Mum to one of the pups. Who knows whether they decided to keep a pup because it was cuter, or just didn't require the (14 month old!) bitch any more now she had earnt them some money? It made me feel sick to my stomach. The ad said 'a friendly girl who needs ot go to a home where no-one minds her jumping on the sofa or bed (= not trained in my eyes!) and a 'forever home'. yes, because they really cared about her, didn't they?!
That is the one time when I would have taken the dog, and I rang the woman up what must have been hours after the ad was placed. The bitch had already gone! I just hope to goodness that she is in a better place now.

I must confess and do the same, why I dont know as it just upsets me. :(
I just had to email one ad tho as they were advertising an unregistered litter of red staffies as a 'rare' colour and trying to charge £1000 for them

I emailed saying how dare they try to make more money etc etc
the email I sent wasnt replied too but I hope they read it at least.
It makes sad when I see ads for 'breeding pairs'. What is that all about????
