I need help urgently with my 1 year old male, neutered staff.  He simply will not listen to me at all and is far more responsive to my partner.  I am currently 37 weeks pregnant and spending a significant amount of time at home alone with the dog, however I am finding it increasingly stressful as he jumps on the furniture and on me and basically rules the house.  Walking him is awful as he pulls me and I can't trust him to come back when he is asked.  As much as I love him I am finding the situation increasingly hard to manage and no matter what I try nothing seems to work, I've bought books, tried to be consistent with what I do in a low authoritive voice but I am on the brink of thinking about rehoming him. I have no idea how he will react to the presence of a baby or how I'll cope with both of them.  I feel terrible that I have maybe created this situation some how and cannot understand why he is so much better behaved with my partner and a female friend that walks him.

I need urgent help with his behaviour and whilst I would be willing to go to classes or do anything else my pregnancy makes it difficult at this time.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Try Googling for NILIF (Nothing In Life Is Free).  At the moment he obviously finds you irrelevant uninteresting and sees no reason to listen to you.  This program should change his mind pretty darn quick and it is non confrontational.

Some animals react strangly to pregnancies, my friend had a SBT who was the same as yours but after she had the babe he settled and is now a cherished member of the family and is 100% trusted around theyre child. :)
Keep training him and dont give up and please dont hand him to a shelter unless it is the absolute least resort.

Did you properly train him when he was a puppy? like basic obedience?

Brainless advice is top notch as well I would take it and go for it straighty away! :)
