Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Pup won't stand still!

I have a lhasa pup and her first show is on the 3rd January but I can't seem to get her to stand still!  She stands still when people aren't looking, but as soon as the trainer at ring craft looks at her she sits down.  I don't mean when she is finished looking at her, I mean straight away - as soon as she looks in her direction.  She knows when someone is looking at her (even when she can't see them) and sits!  I only have 3 weeks or so to her (and my) first show so I'm looking for any tips you can give me on keeping her standing.  I'm new to showing and other than standing still, my pup seems to know more about it than me - must be in her genes!

Please help!

First of all don't worry :) Pups always misbehave, they shouldn't be liottle robots and the judge will make allowances for her age.

Have you been asking her to sit for a treat? With my show dogs I never ever teach them sit until they fully understandnthe stand command, they are always given treats standing. A useful thing to do is to have a pocketful of her favourite treats and take her out into a busy area for a walk. She's a cute puppy, people will stop and talk to her. Ask each one to give her a treat...but to move the treat away from her nose and give it to her when she stands up. It could be nerves making her sit when people look at her, if loads of strangers give her treats she hopefully soon be standing wagging her tail at the judge waiting for a sweetie :)
