I was told say a litter was registered and the sire wasnt a champ at that time of registering the litter but aquired his title the year later can you then start to put Ch (for the sires details) on a show entry form from that litter? Or as i got told you couldnt as he wasnt a champ at the time of registering the litter? and you have to put what it states on the paperwork for the pup at the time of birth..

Its puzzling me now..

Officially i don't know but as the litters registration papers would state Ch if ownership was changed after Ch was gained or if new ones were applied for due to loss then I would assume so.

I'd imagine so. It's the same dog, after all. I've never heard anything about it having to be what the paperwork says at the time of the litter's birth.

If that was the case then when you make a champ up you couldn't actually enter it as Ch.soandso as it doesn't say that on its registration certificate :)  I have always put the dogs current titles, even if they didn't have them when the litter were registered.

The KC rules state I think that the details have to be entered as recorded at the KC(or words to that effect)ergo if the sire is a champion that should be put on the enter form, I do this with one of mine as his father went abroad & became a AM & AKC Ch

The details of the sire will be in the KC database as they a re after the title so that is what the pups records at the KC will say, so your original document won't matter.

Exactly the same as the Registrations of my two champion girls don't have their titles on because they are the ones I was sent when they were babies, yet when they are entered at shows or have had their own pups registered their titles are there, same as the updated eye tests etc.

So my long winded answer is that anyone with a pup should alter their own records and include the relevant titles on pedigrees and entries.
