I've just seen a litter of pups advertised in the local free paper. Its a very lengthy advert that states "our puppies are raised using the Marsupial Method (patent pending)" Eh? Anyone have any ideas what this (apparently fabulous :rolleyes:) 'method' could be??

There is rarely puppies advertised in this paper, yet this week they're are several litters. Including one that I've seen many many times in another local paper, who are apparently Accredited breeders.. yet there have been loads of litters from them over the past year or so (mum and dad can always be seen :rolleyes:) can't you just tell Christmas is coming? :(

Anyway marsupial method, any clues???

I'm wondering if these pups have been raised by hand - by being taken away from the bitch and carried around by the breeder/handler in a bag/pouch, so that the pup becomes totally dependent upon the carer?????   Absolutely horrendous thought!

mmm I was thinking along those lines too. But mum is there and it says they've been raising several generations this way!! :rolleyes:

The plot thickens... I was doing a google search on this method and what do I find? The same exact advert, from the same person in an INDIAN pets for sale listing, that states the pups location as somewhere in India!!! And it was posted there just a week before the advert I saw in our local paper - What on earth is going on???

I am confused...

I also found the same wording in an online advert for a Chi pup in Chicago....

If you type in "puppies raised using the Marsupial Method (patent pending)", you get a completely different picture :( - and not one that I would be happy with.

Well it is obviously commercial breeding and ignorant breeding at that including crosses, but still didn't find what this method is supposed to be?

My guess is that the pups are taken away from Mum like you would parrot babies, and then carried next t your body in a pouch, and that for pups is abhorrent.

Don't worry Margot, I not interested in that breed!! I'm not in the market for a puppy anyway (waiting for my bitch puppy who was incidentally due to be born today! ;)) I'm just puzzled by this advert, especially now as it seems to be cropping up in different countries with the same advert but a local number?? Weird!

And I agree, I think they must be taking these poor pups away from the dam and carrying them around like orphaned monkeys. How wicked. When I saw the advert in the Indian listing, two slots down was an advert for a baby lowland gorilla for sale
