Hi,

I changed my bunch over to Arden Grange from Nutro earlier this year and everyone eats it well. What I was wondering though is whether anyone has had a problem with runny eyes or itchy feet with this food. Some of my bunch are chewing their paws and two of my girls have developed tear stains which they didn't have before.

Anybody have similar trouble?

Thanks

My dogs do fine on Arden Grange.  In fact, they do fine with any food in terms of allergies.   So the experience of others really does not matter much when it comes to figuring out why your dogs are suddenly itchy!

If you think it's the food than compare the ingredients of Nutro and Arden Grange and figure out what may be in Arden Grange that is not in Nutro.  Or, look to see where Arden Grange might have more of some food than Nutro.  That should help you determine if food is the likely cause; apart from the thousand other things that can cause allergic reactions inside and outside the house.

Still not happy, go back to Nutro and if your dogs symptoms disappear within a month than it may have been Arden Grange.  (Or, it may have been a pollen or mold outside that died off because of the change in outside temperature over that month too!)  So frustrating, isn't it?

Mine are all on Arden Grange with absolutely no problems at all - super coats and poo, and they're all working well right to the end of the day.

But I guess it's horses for courses - you may find a lower protein is better for your particular dogs

Never had any problems with Arden grange - in fact the reverse - coats are the best they ever have been.  But do give Arden Grange a ring - they have a great nutritionalist who will advise you.

my hubby used to buy this 10 yrs ago for his dogs and thought it really good it was £60 per bag then but now we feed tripe. does anyone know if the quality of arden grange has gone down now that the price has please?

AG has never to my knowledge been that dear.

It was dearer when the bags were 20kg, and when they changed to 15kg it was around £30 a bag retail, but you get it VAT free and cheaper on the breeder scheme.

You did have to buy two bags so maybe that is where you get the £60 from?

Also there were two ranges, one had fresh chicken and chicken meal and the other chicken meal, the latter being cheaper, but they have streamlined them all into one range with some having the fresh meat and some not.

Yes, it does sound expensive but I am certain that the company is far too ethicial to even consider reducing the quality of their foods.  I knoiw personally they pride themselves on quality.

We've never had problems with AG, although did have the exact same problems when I tried my girls on Royal Canin

Duibh has developed itching since he's been on Arden Grange - but my (recent) suspicion is that it may be the lamb that's a problem, as he's on the lamb & rice and when he was on lamb & rice of a different brand about a year ago he got a couple of bouts of diarrhoea, so I don't think it's the AG as such in his case. His itching is mainly over the body though, not itchy feet or runny eyes. Did you change from chicken to lamb or vice versa?  Any different air fresheners or washing powders or floor cleaners or anything of that sort?

Hi,

Thanks everyone.

No I haven't washing powdwers or any cleaning products. Not all of my brood have the problem, ust four of them. I mostly fed them the chicken variety but may give lamb a try before I change over.
