Can anyone tell me how much exercise a Bichon Frise needs?  Can they cope with a long walk?  Thanx

I think the general guide is 5 minutes per month of life each day.  I think this is the general guide until approximately 1 year of age - longer in larger breeds - did your pups breeder not provide any information regarding this?

I would say once adult any dog should be able to go for an hours walk.  The exception might be the short faced breeds in warmer weather, though no dog should be walked in the heat of the day in summer.

friends of mine had 3 and lived on a remote part of dartmoor. their dauly walks were 2-3 hours long every day plus a 5-6 hour walk weekends and the dogs loved it!

Must admit I do feel so sorry for some of the smaller and active breeds when they get very little exercise, or are always being carried about as if they didn't have legs.

This is good to know as we have a caravan and regularly have weekends away were we like to do a good 5-6 mile walk and i was a bit worried if we were going to knacker her!

A friend takes her bichons out with her german shepherds. They walk for miles and love running through the fields and the muck. :)

You would need to build her up to walking that far if she isn't used to it, but at least she is small, you can always pick her up and carry her if you have to. Wouldn't want to try that with our Bernese if she got tired :D :D Our vet always said that the worst thing for a dog was to be taken for short walks all year then expected to hike 10 miles on the holidays. Just like us they need to build up their stamina, although I don't think anyone told our setter that she must walk about 10 miles further than us the amount of running to and fro she does. Enjoy your walks :)
