HI
Can anyone tell me if it is safe to feed a Bichon Frise red meat as i have heard that it is not good for them.

If you are talking about raw beef then there is a risk of http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/board/topic_show.pl?pid=483497;hl=freezing%20beef;hlm=and#pid483497

As it says freezing or cooking will kill the spores :)

I have heard that Bichons shouldn't have beef but mine has no problem with it although he doesn't get that much of it.  I have never fed it him raw though.

Beef can certainly cause 'hot-spots' with bichons, and I know of many that are intolerant to it stomach-wise too. I don't give my bichons beef food, or beef treats. They occasionly have raw tripe which they are fine with. None of my boys like it either! I bought them some large beef bones, but they wouldn't touch them!

I've never had a hot-spot on any of my boys, it may be bacause I don't give them beef or I may have just been lucky! My (now gone) girls used to get skin trouble from time to time and they were sometimes fed beef in their diet (you live and learn!! :D) So I won't risk it.

No, Bichons should not be fed beef.
