Hello

My two year old (just four weeks ago spayed) girl became a bit nervous of other dogs and so I sought a trainer/behaviourist for advise.  I think the help I got from him is excellent, but it involves some exercises with other dogs.  I'm new to the area and I just had the idea to ask whether there are people on here who might be near-ish me and are happy to help me and my girl.  Since this is a public forum I rather don't want to say where I am except I'm in the Highlands.  If there is anybody who might think can help, can you please pm me.

Thanks!

Edited to say...I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, be happy to be moved:rolleyes:

Just to say that I posted this now in the general forum as I think it's best to place it there.  Sorry and I hope I'm not in trouble now

It is fine where it is.  It is best not to post more than one topic as it gets very confusing when people start answering both :)

do you not have a training class you can attend I am sure they would be happy to slowly socialise your dog if you explain the advice given by your behaviorist.

hey i have a springer pup of 8 months who is also very nervous. she has been going to training since 12 weeks and is honestly i feel getting worse. i think i am going to have to get a trainer out also to work with her as she is getting really hard work. if you have any solutions please let me no,sounds like were in the same boat!!!

I actually took her to training classes for most time of her life as well as to agility and flyball during the summer.  "Village hall training" I think people call that kind of class I took her to, but this was the only thing available really where I lived (a town in the Highlands).   We moved to Inverness just six weeks ago and I contacted a professional trainer/behaviourist as I feel I need more help with this.  I think her bahaviour is phantom preg related as it started after her first season last year, but basically disappeared after two/three weeks.  It restarted after her second season this year or better said it restarted with another phantom in July this year.

Stanyor21 - My dog was never nervous of dogs before she had a phantom at the age of 15 months.  I don't think I have a solution as yet except do try and find a professional trainer, eight months is a tender age.   I suppose you have an English Springer, they are a different breed from the Welsh.

I had a couple of pm's and it looks as there is a 'happy to help' person near me.  My husband wasn't all that keen for me to post on the internet about meeting somebody, but I'm glad I did:cool:

he's just thinking of your safety, and I agree with him. be very careful meeting people from the net, you never know who or what they are! be best if you are not alone when you meet up, and make sure someone else knows where you are.
