Right frantic rush to Sainsbury's I am out of treats to start the evening I had
5 x bags of 96 treats you know the mini mars/milkyways/maltesers/snickers etc...that sort of thing.
4 x multi (4 bags of walkers crisps...
16 assorted pieces of diabetic chocolate....(have two diabetic children come this year had about 7.... who were well impressed we had diabetic chocolate. not counting the approx 16 satsuma's and 5 bannana's down....
Oh yes and a whole special bucket of baby chocolate (milky ways/milky bars/buttons white and chocolate.
...so mad dash to Sainsbury's to restock....on the go since 4.30....and everyone extremely polite too...oh yes had about 70 odd balloons round the fence and now down to 5....given away to the little ones.

So off I go flying over on the broom to give the kids something to Ohh Ahh about. I love Halloween.

I'm afraid I'm a total party pooper!!  Trick or treaters drive my dogs mad, so I put up a sign on the front door asking (very nicely) not to knock, but to enjoy Halloween anyway!

Our Police issued posters, one side for those happy to have them if they are in costume with parents, the others saying no Halloween callers please.  I too am a party pooper, though did feel a bit guilty as there seem to be more real trick or treaters out with their parents, so maybe the posters got people thinking to make and effort

Oh, we don't get any trick-or-treaters coming to our house! We have a long dark winding driveway leading up to our house so we're just too spooky I think :D I saw literally hundreds of kids out though when walking the dog this evening - one road had a long line of about 30 all with little glowing pumpkins and stuff. Don't ever remember seeing so many before!

If they ring the bell Sal barks, if they knock the door they are both fine. But its one evening and the children really do seem to enjoy it now its become a routine, and they dress up and come with parents/grandparents and I do enjoy it don't have children myself but my nephew has had a great time decorating the front for me this afternoon.

I bought 20 lollipops for a pound today!  and my husband and daughter sat here eating one as we've had nobody call! I live in town to so was expecting at least a couple!

We've had several callers tonight. All little ones dressed up and accompanied by older siblings or parents so I don't mind these ones :)

The fireworks tonight are horrendous though :( We don't 'celebrate' Guy Fawkes night on 5th November but for some reason fireworks have become associated with Hallowe'en here Thankfully the dogs are sleeping through most of it...Lola is only getting up to greet callers and inadvertently scaring the bejaysus out of some of them ( I think that they think that the huge, hairy, slobbering dog is some sort of Hallowe'en trick!), leaving only the die-hards to wait long enough to receive their sweets :D

Awwww we only had 2 callers so now we are stuck with at the least 140 lollies :D :D cant see anymore coming now...

Pity I'm not closer...I could give some of those lollies a good home :D

I've been out tonight with my daughter who is 6. She gets so excited about it and I don't think it would bother her if she got any 'treats' or not she just loves getting dressed up and showing herself off!!!!

In our village alot of the eolderly people love to see the children out trick or treating. And alot of the houses I take my daughter to I used to go to as I was growing up!!!

Surprised me tonight how many people that were staying at home had made an effort for the trick or treaters coming round. We saw some fantastic displays and it made the night really nice.

I too don't agree with gangs of teenagers but luckily round here we don't seem to suffer with that too badly. Mainly little ones who just like to dress up!!:-D

I'm glad that we lived on a large estate when the boys were small though, it's a nice family evening and they would have missed out on it.

Booooooo, to you party poopers. :-D All the effort we mum's and our little ones go to to get dressed up and turn into ugly, grotesque creatures, I love the atmosphere of Halloween I really get into character. Sorry, but I'll never grow up. :-D

I've still dressed the house up in Halloween style though, and we had a few of the boys friends over for an hour or so, and I still got to put my witches hat on. :-D

Our little ones are a bit too little at the moment and they don't seem very interested although my eldest is going into pre-school dressed up tomorrow. I used to love dressing up and knocking on peoples doors but where we lived before you would get alot of teenagers egging people when they opened the door!

We don't get any trick or treaters in our close at all, perhaps its because its a private close? I did see alot of little ones out earlier though with parents which is nice to see, i don't like the thought of young ones on their own!

all sounds frightful.....thank goodness we dont have anything like that here!

We have now got zero tolerence in the viilage now unless they are under 13, with thier mothers/responsible adult and have the agreement prior to the night that they will do trick and treat , it has worked very well as the police, the schools advertised it :)

We have had loads of little kids today, all with their parents.
We always get as many bell rings as kids there are as each one wants to ring the bell!!!

I was at training club so got out of it :d  Last year no-one came though, they must realise that I'm a miserable young bugger.  No I do usually give them a bit of money.

We had loads this year, all very polite too which was wonderful.  Parents at the bottom of the steps and the children all dressed up, I really enjoyed seeing them.

Last year, if I remember rightly, it was raining so we didn't have many trick or treaters, but tonight was lovely, thankfully I had lots of goodies ready for them.

Thank heavens I have no neighbours and live on a quiet country lane!  I'm a total party pooper :-D

Afraid I am not too keen on Halloween with it's trick or treating :( Perhaps it is an age thing as I can't remember celebrating Halloween at all when I was a child. My children would carve pumpkins but they never went trick or treating. I am sure lots of children do enjoy the process but it makes me feel uncomfortable that children, whether accompanied by parents or not, are out and about in the dark knocking on the doors of complete strangers and asking them for sweets.

When I was small we lived in Scotland where Hallowe'en was celebrated much more than it was when we moved south of the border. But in order to get any sweets, the children had to each earn them, by singing a song, or reciting a poem, or playing a tune on the recorder, or something along those lines. No free handouts!

This is true, we're a mean lot up here - you have to work for your sweeties :D I had a couple of trick or treaters early on in the evening, then went off to work and drove the hundreds of strangely dressed people home. A lot of the nightclubs were giving free entry/free drink to people in costume so most people were dressed up. It was the busiest night since the festival finished :)

I believe so. It's often called 'guising' - going out in 'disguise'.

Did you get the posters from the Police too?  I wonder whether this resulted in more appropriate trick or treating.  I really did feel a bit mean this year as for a change they were all proper kids with parents that knocked.

One side said We weclome Halloween callers with Children in costume, and the toehr said No Trick or Treat Here. Enjoy your evening.

I might actually get goodies in next year, having been very anti this until now.

We had loads  many seemed to have used it as an excuse to ask if they could play with the dogs :)

All dressed up nicely and very polite with parents. Several houses on our road were all Halloweened too - we are turning all USA :)
