ok, another question, which I have yet to find the answer for when looking online, or even talking with my vet.
My girls skin has gone from a gray-pink to almost black.  Her stomach, ears, anus, and vulva are all black now.
I took her in to the vet cos I was kinda concerned, and she couldnt answer my question
Have any of you experienced this? 

My Harlequin great dane had something strange too, when she was having pups and for a few weeks after she got like a shadow around her patches and her skin went really pink!! Again vet could not find a reason why but she was fine and a few weeks after weaning the litter her skin went back to normal.

Not having had a litter or even a bitch I am not the best person to offer advice on this subject, but maybe dogs are a little like humans as sometimes our skin colour can change during pregnancy?

One of my bitches looses pigmentation completely when in whelp, usually has jet back pigmentation but goes to mottled pinky brown, the other girls if anything had darker pigmentation.

Thank you everyone.  I am a first time breeder of a smooth coated breed, and wasnt exactly sure of all the possible skin changes, etc, since I am used to long coated dogs, like the Springer, who we usually saw nothing really.
