Topic Dog Boards / General / Stupid, stupid man!

I was driving along my road earlier taking Soli back home after a walk, and walking along the pavement there's a man, being followed by his daughter - looked to be no more than 6 or 7 - being literally dragged along by a very strong, young white GSD.  The man was a good few feet up ahead of her and bless her, she was obviously worried and struggling.

Beautiful dog but how stupid can someone be?  My road has a lot of cats that are left to their own devices, and that dog was going hell-for-leather with the pulling - the sort that an adult would have trouble withstanding.  The girl didn't have a hope.

I passed by again a few minutes later with the other three in the back - the girl and the dog were stood outside the corner shop while the man went in.  As we pulled out Remy started barking at the dog - luckily it was distracted by the man returning, but it scared the heck out of me.  What if that dog had reacted to Rem?  It would have been at the car - if not in the road - faster than the man would've been able to open the shop door and come and help.  Sheer madness, what is wrong with some people?

I saw something very similar outside local shops. Young girl left holding GSD pup while mother went into a shop. When the Mum came out the pup dragged the girl off her feet to greet the mother.

The mother walked over to the child pulled her to her feet and smacked her :mad:

I don,t like to see small children left in sole control of any dog.
Even if their dog is good and freindly it can so easily get inn trouble.
No small child can keep control if a cat appears or an offlead dog suddenly decides to approach them I,ve struggled in the past to keep hold of my two dogs as children have nearly been dragged of their feet when out walking dogs and they don,t have to be particularly large breeds either, one little girl aged about seven was literally pulled over by a small terrier it made an awful mess of her knees and hands luckily someone else managed to get the dog before a serious accident happened.
I,m really against children being left in charge of dogs its hard enough some days controlling your own gang without having to worry about other peoples dogs.

I agree i don't ike to see young children in control of dogs, our eldest (3 years) "helps" me walk our cavvie without actually holding the lead!
