My girl has been on Royal Canin for 18 months (she's 2) and has done really well on it. Plenty of energy, beautiful coat and just the right weight. However, she went off her dry food after she was mated ( she consequently lost the pups......but that's not for here ). I started feeding her fresh cooked liver, chicken and turkey with vegetables which she loved.....I also added Stress.
She's still refusing dry food and is convalesing........However, I didn't feel she was getting all the nutrients she was used to so as a temporary ( I hope) measure I've bought some Science Plan chicken in a can. It says its a complete food but to my horror it seems to be so much lower in protein than Royal Canin dry. She gulped it down which is brilliant but I had hoped the protein/nutrients would have have been similar ( given that Science plan dry isn't a million miles away from Royal Canin)
On the can it says Science plan is 6.4% Protein 4.1% Fat and .3 Fibre
Royal Canin is 26% Protein 20% Fat and 4% Fibre
Any thoughts. I'm thinking these figures are somehow not comparable or is canned food really so much less in protein than dry food?
