Can anybody help, i'm so angry, a new family has moved in just around the corner and they have atleast four cats, troule is they keep doing their Doo's on my front lawn, i am picking up two - three poo's a day, it's just not on. I know it's down to that family as it only started happening about 3weeks since they moved in, does anbody have any ideas what will stop them targeting my lawn? I don't really want to have to speak to them reagrding this as i'm not the kind to pick a fight over something so trivial....

Apaently if you leave bottles of water laying around then they wont pooh there. something to do with not liking toileting near where they drink.
Another way is spray Jays fluid around fences etc. they dont like it so will top them coming in (neither guarunteed but might cut down on it.
Plkease be careful with cat scarers. the really high pitched things. As I can hear them. So if you have a neighbour with as sensative hearing as me (and I am not alone) you will have problems with your neighbours!!!!
I know what you mean tho. I am a landscape gardener and there are several gardens that we call cat sh!& ally, as every time we mow or tidy gardens there is so much cat muck :( :( the amount of time I have been mowing and nearly been sick from the smell :( :( I often wonder what these people feed their cats.
Good Luck
Lea :)

Cats Protection recommend lying in wait with a super-soaker ... ;) :) Very satisfying! :D

Jeyes fluid is poisonous to cats :(
- By Lea Date 13.10.07 21:26 UTC
Ooooopppsss. Sorry.
Would they lick it?
I am talking about the spray stuff that you get from supermarkets not the concentrate stuff you use for dog runs.
I dont know where I heard about it, But if it is poisonous to cats then I retract my suggesting it.
Lea.

Did I read somewhere on here once that the smell of Lions Urine stops cats using your garden??

So just go out and buy a lion!.............. No, seriously :-) I think there is something that you can buy that imitates the smell.

I know it is a nuscience, cats always seem to go in every other place but their own gardens.

There are plenty of deterants, whether they work long term is another thing.

JG's suggestion is RSPCA approved so you won't get into trouble and it may only take a couple of squirts for them to get the message. One of my old cats used to go into my neighbours house and try to get to her open fish tank all the time, she often caught him sat on her kitchen unit with his paw in the tank flicking water everywhere, I told her to squirt him with a water pistol and it did work, he stopped going in her house.  It should work in the garden too. :-)

I've heard it's the poop. Go to the zoo and pick up some Lion poop and sprinkle it around the edge of your garden. This should keep the cats at bay :D

Cat repellent. :)

I've had good success with the lion poo (Silent Roar) but you do have to keep it fresh and make sure you don't touch it. It doesn't upset my dogs at all either.

Pain isn't it. I had to pick up piles of cat droppings before I mowed in my last house (pre-dogs). Not that the dogs make any difference, but the cats around here don't leave it on the lawn. I still have plenty around my garden so I can experience the joy of sticking my hands in some when gardening.

I was told that the best remedy is to go and buy your own cat  I have to say, it has worked for us..............no more neighbouring cats visit our garden anymore :D

get a lakeland terrier.....we have a cat free garden now! hoseing them works well too! we have about 10 farm cats/ferrals here in the farm and water and terrier do a grand job!

are you sure they belong to your new neighbour  being a cat owner I wouldnt let a cat outside after moving to a new area so quickly in case they got lost.
Having had 5 cats sadly now down to two I understand how annoying it is when they decide to toilet in other peoples gardens , it is very difficult to actually stop them .Luckily for me my neighbours also have cats and understand.

My brother has a cat who ventures into his garden to toilet he puts the sprinkler in the middle of the grass and leaves it on it seems to have worked ...cats dont like getting wet.

Been to my sister's house today and they have a cat living nearby that regularly visits their garden. It seems to have taken to spraying all over the trees and bushes (lovely for the children ) and my Dobe had a great time licking it off - was in complete bliss infact and completely ignored my calls  The end of his nose and his muzzle area absolutely reek of a disgusting musky foul smell...and his breath

We also have several that come into our garden and poo all over the place, in particular all over the vegetable patches. Disgusting beasts. I did like cats once.

Sounds like an entire tom.

I can appreciate how irritating it must be as cat poo has to be one of the worst smells ever!

Our cats live their lives indoors only so we can control where they poo...

Cat Poo or cat wee isnt pleasant I know!
BUT all animals have to toilet somewhere, Id try just shooing them off each time you see them, they may find somewhere better to go.
At the end of the day not much you can do about it, you cant tell a cat not to do it there, and you cant complain to the owners as the cats wont listen to them either!

We live in the country and have the lovely smell of chicken poo which has been spread all over the bordering fields, cat poo is lovely compared to this! We also have foxes poo, badgers poo and deer poo in our garden so be thankful.
We all have to put up with something, and bear in mind , you may have to put up with a bit of catpoo from your neighbour whereas your neighbour will have to put up with the screeching and screaming of your kids in their garden in the summer months!!!

No less worse then people whos dogs mess and they dont clean it up, they have much bigger poos as well! :d :d :d
- By ali-t [gb] Date 03.11.07 17:13 UTC
a bit of a generalisation on my part, but the people who don't pickup after their dogs seem to be the ones who feed their dogs lower quality food which equates to big sloppy stinky poos for me to stand in. yuck!
- By LoisLane Date 04.11.07 17:23 UTC
Thanks guys!! Guess it's just one of those things we have no control over!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 04.11.07 17:48 UTC
