a couple of weeks ago I emailed my puppy owners just to warn them of a virus that was going around the country mostly affecting young dogs, with side affects of Parvo light.
Today I have had a phone call from one of the puppy owners concerned as her pup has gone down hill since wednesday, with very rusty runny poo, vomiting, very lathargic (sp).
The dog has been to the vets, been given injections, xrays, and put on a drip.
I a so worried that this may be the horrible virus that is going around, has anyone else heard of this virus and what is the best cure?
The dog will be going back to the vets this afternoon for more tests, the dog is lust laying around the garden, does not want to come indoors, it did have a temperature but this morning the temp has gone down to normal
any help and advice please very worried

There is lots of info Gemini on the BMD of GB webpage as it seems to have been 1st noticed at the BMD of GB Champ show and quite a few went down with it including the winner of the MP class who unfortunately died. It is classed as a Viral Puppy Enteritis of the Parvoid strain. Be vigilant and don't take a gippy tum lightly at the moment.

Hi marlot, yes i have seen the read up on the BMD GB website and have emailed those tetails to the puppy owner to show her vet, I am still waiting to find out how the pup got on at the vets this afternoon, hopefully things are ok.
The update on the BMD GB website says that the virus is actually country wide spread and that it is not a breed thing as it is affecting all breeds, cross etc: the warning is for EVERY DOG owner to be aware of this condtion, I just hope it goes away soon :(

Can you post full details of the website - Ive got a new pup - and think it would be a good idea to find out about this - but BMD GB ? I havent got a clue what that means.

The puppy that has been taken ill has been confirmed it is the strain of Parvo, an unknown virus.

Please if anyone has a sick dog with the same symptoms then get them to the vets and have a blood test done to check the white blood cell counts.
The puppy was being treated for Gastro as the vet did not know the real cause of the illness, but after the blood tests had been done (recommended by me to the owner to ask the vet) they then realsed it was a virus and are treating accordingly.
