hello everyone, i actually found this site purely by accident, i won't pretend i am something wonderful i am merely someone who loves dogs and ended up persuing them as a career, i am in to Miniature Schnauzers and have and 8 month old black mini and a 10 week old black and silver mini. i recently joined ringcraft and would like to try my hand at showing so have started a certifcate in showing course through the animal care college, one of my assignments is to discuss the arguements for and against entering a Champion under a judge that has already given it a ticket. As i said i am really new to this and haven't even done one show yet, please could you help me? i thought i would join up as some of your points of view on showing a bitch in season really helped on my last assignment.
thanks guys for taking time out to help, its greatly appreciated.x

It is considered bad form, it is said you should give someone else a go, that is it chasing round the country to go under a judge that likes your dog.

Thing is that although the judge may give you a second ticket it will not count towards your dog becoming a champion as the dog needs to win 3 CCs under 3 different judges so it seems to do so is just collecting CCs but then some people like doing that and aim for a breed record.

In general in my breed it is not done nor is chasing breed records although it would seem some with only a few animals may inadvertently find they are heading that was and therefore keep going.

Think it is considered acceptable if the dog is now a veteran, or it is a breed club show or Crufts.

Oh, buy the way, welcome to the forum.

thankyou! i have been finding it a bit confusing but i guess when you start anything new, you have to learn the ropes, thanks for the help so far. my friend bless her had to explain to me exactly how the open show and championship show thing works, i have lots to learn

Generally I agree with the answer above, however there may be a couple of occasions when it is acceptable - at Crufts or a club show when you may want to see how your dog does against greater competition, or want to go further with it after the ticket. I can think of a couple of examples in my breed where dogs have won 2 tickets from the same judge, in both cases the dogs were very successful with tickets in double numbers and the owners were presumably hoping for either a breed record or a BIS win.

Doh! Edited to add Nova already used these scenarios...I didn't see them the first time I read the post :-D

I think it is acceptable if you know the group judge and/or best in show judge likes your dog, after all, you've got to get through the breed judging to have a crack at group or b.i.s.

It would also be ok in veteran in my breed.
