Did you know that if you mistakenly enter a championship show twice you are not entitled to a refund?

A friend of mine thought that she hadn't sent it so also entered last minute on-line.  A couple of days later she had her chequebook and realised that she'd already entered.  When she enquired with the show secretary she was told that she would not be getting any monies back, so the person has lost £50!!

I'd ask judge to judge me twice!!!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 18.04.08 07:49 UTC
That seems really out of order and I would query it with the show executive and the KC.  I would expect them to levy and administrative charge for their trouble but not to refund seems not right.

Iv'e done it myself TWICE !! over the years and i have always been told that it was my fault so no refund !!

I'm very careful now.

Sorry but if you are that silly to enter twice, it's down to you and not anyone other than you.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 18.04.08 09:26 UTC
We all make mistakes DMac, or are you perfection personified (sorry, wish I knew how to do smilies)!

I think it's disgusting that they are keeping £50 which isn't theirs.  I'm glad that I've never done this and hope I never will, in this day and age I know that I couldn't afford such a huge amount of money.

I am far from perfection, but if i did it i would not then go on to cry about it.

Thanks for the warning!! I recently (accidently) paid twice for my online litter registration with the KC and didn't realise until I received my monthly statement from the bank ! Quick telephone call to the KC and they immediately refunded my card , I would have been most upset if they had taken the same attitude as the show secretary.....anyone can make a mistake!

Sounds like one for the dog papers :-)

I am far from perfection, but if i did it i would not then go on to cry about it.     Who said that the person is crying about it?????  It's not me that has done this, so I'm not crying about it, just think it is very unfair.  Whoops, realised that you are a sales manager, so can see what side you are coming from.
- By ChristineW Date 18.04.08 12:50 UTC
I'd be asking for a free lunch & gold plated rosettes to make up what I've lost on entries.
- By welshie [gb] Date 18.04.08 12:51 UTC
if you enter on line it usualy comes up and says
YOU ARE ALL READY ENTERED IN THIS SHOW
- By DMac Date 18.04.08 14:41 UTC
What has my job got to do with it? It's a very very silly mistake, that is very easy to manage. Keep a note of it somewhere! Basic common sense
- By Brainless [gb] Date 18.04.08 15:00 UTC
Surely though no-one is entitled to be paid twice for the same service/goods.  Yes it was the 'buyers' mistake,a nd certainly an amount deducted from the refund for time and trouble etc is fair, but not to keep £50 of someone Else's money.
- By sandrah Date 18.04.08 15:07 UTC
If she did it in the last few days, has she tried ringing the show processor, ie Higham Press, Fosse Data and explain the situation, she might be able to get it refunded from that side, perhaps minus the admin charge.
- By bertsmum [gb] Date 18.04.08 16:30 UTC
Surely a fair way out of the situation would be for the entry you paid for online presumably to Fosse or Highams be transferred to an entry fee for  another show! mind you since when has dog showing been fair ha ha.
Blimey isnt DMac a perfect one!!!! come on mistakes happen and sometimes a little moan about it makes you feel better!!!
- By DMac Date 18.04.08 16:45 UTC
Yes i am the perfect one!
- By ice_queen Date 19.04.08 15:07 UTC
I can't see why she shouldn't get a refund.  It's not like the society will be loosing anything, however has her cheque been cashed?  What if she cancelles the cheque?
- By deansami [gb] Date 19.04.08 15:19 UTC
thats just what i was going to say,
- By deansami [gb] Date 19.04.08 15:20 UTC
well said berts mum x
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 19.04.08 19:49 UTC
Yes they cashed the cheque straight away and said that they will not refund.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 19.04.08 19:55 UTC
Yes you make mistakes and do daft things, but seems really unfair not to refund. Perhaps some will some won't? I know my friend lost a close family member last summer and needed to get away for a break, phoned Windsor and explained the circumstances (I would NEVER have dared!) and they did refund her entry!
- By MADDOG [gb] Date 21.04.08 19:05 UTC
ah, but they're very nice people at Windsor :-D

I am presuming that your friend made them very aware that she had entered twice & wasn't just asking for her money back.  I know that sounds silly but sometimes speaking SLOOOOWLY & CLEARRRRLY to these harrassed secretaries often works wonders.  Failing that, a moan to the dog press.  I'm sure it must be illegal to take money twice - even the banks don't do that ;-)
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 21.04.08 19:20 UTC
Yeah she did.  Something for those of us who may be a bit thick to learn always double check that you haven't already entered.
