At the weekend I discovered just how unprepared I was for shows - I had to borrow a ring-clip and made far too many trips to my car and thought of far too many things I wished I'd taken with me, so I've decided to make a show box up.
Do you have such a box? What do you keep in it? I'm looking to have one of those brilliant boxes in which you have all you need and then some just short of the kitchen sink!!!

Don't take much really.
Show clip
show lead
comb, slicker
water & bowl
treats
and if we are going to use the benching area then I add
Bench chains
blanket
not forgetting the flask of coffee, crisps and the cheese batches :)

.............A couple of small towels, one to wet if feet/legs get mucky, one to dry.
Poo bags

We have a ruck sack (so dad can carry it in aswell as all the other stuff! ;) )
It contains:
Many many show leads
Brushes
Combs
Spare scissors (ie not my posh ones!)
box of afew ringclips
a number of arm bands
LOTS of poo bags
a couple of samlpe bags of food (for when we forget to add fresh bait in the morning)
slobber towles (at least two)
Dry shampoo
water bowle
I thinks thats about it. The reason we have so many of everything is due to multiple handlers. between the 3 of us, we all prefer different leads, all need an armband each, and slobber towles etc!
although everything is easier to access when in a box, it's harder to take in unless you have a trolly. As we don't and we carry everything a racksack is ideal.

where do you guys get ringclips and armbands?

armband for holding ring number
slobber cloth
poo bags (XXL) :)
dont need anything else!
I'm planning to get mine from petcetera or hub int, cause I can't get to mainland shows cause of where I am.
I have a horse tack box for shows, and a fabric dog crate that goes over my shoulder, so theoretically I can take it all (box, dog and crate) in one go but that's yet to be tried out! I know in practise its unlikely to work!!

Baby wipes!!

Man, it does seem like a lot for min pins, but its so expensive if you need to by anything at the show, better to take something that stays in the box, than forget something, and spending 10x the amount on a replacement at a show!

Terri, you're Spanish would be through a fabric crate in seconds!! Anton wrecked two at Di's last year within 2 minutes of each other and we were only a few feet away from him!
All that I need for the Spanish is poo bags, my show lead, water for them and a dog bowl, no brushes, no combs, no scissors HEAVEN!
My show bag seems to have everything but the kitchen sink! But I still seem to forget something!
I've got myself a little fold down trolley for transporting the soft crates on (B&Q and Tescos sell them). When I had the 2 dogs, it was a case of loading up the trolley with the soft crates and the kitchen sink, then coming back for the dogs!

Backpack here. Benching chains ans show leads live in the pockets. Poo bags in another along with treats if I run out of bait.
Comb brush and some wet wipes, and a towel, Water bowl and water. That's it.
Backpack on back, dogs leads and dogs in one hand and a soft crate,if unbenched show in other, and we are off.

i got one for them and they the spanish have been ok in

Oh the back pack is for me to wear with their gear :D

Most things that have already been mentioned. However now need to revise as my daughter had her picture taken for Dog World yesterday and now wants me to add hair straightners, full range of make up,mirror, hair dryer ,change of designer clothes, personnal assistant...........................................................

Rucksack.. containing..
Bristle brush (for face, beard, feet), comb for rest. Water bowl, water bottle, show lead, ring clip, poo bags, kitchen roll (just incase of a runny one), treats.
And a big roll of vet bed for us all to sit on.

My Spanish are Ok in a fabric crate...Well apart from Merlin altho he has got better, he did ruin the first one by pawing at the zip area, but all the others are fine in them.....even mad Roxy......

Have decided that this year it will be a pocket with a collar, lead, ring clip, titbits, comb & slicker plus a few Piriton and Paracetamol. Bet the list grows and it will have to be two pockets. Forgot the poo bags must have them.

I have a show bag nowadays so I don't have to think too hard!
Treat bag & ring clips
Poo bags, kitchen paper
Brushes, combs, dry shampoo, nail clippers, scissors, eye wipes
Lots of show leads and spare leads & collars
Fleecy coat for cold shows, reflective coat for hot shows, long legged coat for muddy shows!
Those long elastic cord things which with I hold all the baggage on top of the trolley & crate
Pen to write results
Still got Henry's stud card though he's no longer at stud!
Bottle of water and bowl
Probably loads of other junk I never use!

I take a lot of the items you've already mentioned plus migraine tablets and sunglasses as during 2 of the last 5 shows Ive needed them .I get the flashing in the eyes and the sickness but fortunetly not the pain if i'm fast .It must be the nerves or perhaps the lights but not seeing clearly for half an hour or so is awful .
So if you see me incognito frowning in the corner you know it's me ! .

Hi Sallyd , Which migraine tablets do you find work the best ? I really need to find some which work , as like you I get the full works....flashing lights , sickness and unbelievable pain.....not nice if you get caught out at a dog show etc... and then have to drive home alone !!!

Have you tried Imigran....you can talk to the pharmacist and get them now without prescription.
It was a revelation to me when I firat tried them, for the first time in my life something worked! It was liking switching the pain off, no residue of any symptoms,,,,fantastic!
The only thing is my dose is via the doctor and have to take double strength.(!00mgs instead of 50)
Do try ...... :)

Thanks for that , I've tried Migralieve which are not very good and all the other heavy duty painkillers too. I did once get Imigran from the doctor and remember it really worked but didn't realise you can buy them over the counter. I will get some on stand by , thanks.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner , quick trip to Spain for my sons 21st !
I have tried lots of things but my system doesn't like caffeine in tablets .Ive just been using paracetamol and codine extra strength and if I am quick I get no pain , just the other symptoms .
Ill look up the imigran though ,no harm in trying another cure .
Good luck to all this weekend , WELKS on Saturday for me .
