Since my other post is kinda long and well decided to ask another question and kinda the same- yup still have links and planning on going over them...

Is there 3 different mastiff breeds- Mastiff, English Mastiff and BullMastiff? I know there is a bordeaux and the Neo but hubby is really interested in the other ones. Someone at work told me that the English Mastiff is bigger then the Mastiff and the BullMastiff and more docile. I thought there was just the Mastiff and the BullMastiff He does want the bigger of the 3 but then which one would be up to long walks- Does any of the 3 come in brindle? Really fancy the brindle or is that a disqualification? Not sure but if I can may like to do a couple shows with him if possible- of course not getting one for awhile... Yes would be looking at a male- looking at some prices on the net I seen some for 22 and 3 grande and up, does that sound right?

The more I look at them their face kinda and size alone reminds me of Taz. Their couch potato nature I dunno I see our Taz who passed away a couple years ago. I know we will never replace him but these dogs seem to come close :)

There is only two the Mastiff and the Bull Mastiff, most people know the Mastiff as the English Mastiff.
They are docile, and very good with children, but as with all dogs should be well socialized as puppies.
Yes they do come in brindle, and can be several different shades of brindle, you can have dark brindle, apricot brindle and also a light fawn brindle colour. The K.C here have not long changed the colours, and now brindle is just classed as a brindle regardless of shade.

As for price it varies here, as to what people charge but, my advice would be find a reputable breeder, and if possible always visit the kennels and meet some of their others dogs.

The Bullmastiff is more active.  Both can be Brindle.

Thank you so very much- that clears alot up, I did think the mastiff was the english but that person at work said no there is 3 and got me wondering... That works cause I know hubby likes the mastiff so will look more into them- links are great thank you :)

There are more than 3 types of Mastiff!!! (but only 1 real 1 ;) )

Definition of a mastiff - "A type of dog characterized by a massive, muscular body and a powerful head and jaw"

The Mastiff used to be know as the (Old) English Mastiff, hence the name of one of the breed clubs.

There is also the Bullmastiff......

....and the Neopolitan Mastiff, Italian mastiff (Cane Corso), Tibetan Mastiff, South African Mastiff (Boerboel), French Mastiff (Douge De Bordeux), German Mastiff (Great Dane) and Spanish Mastiff, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

EDIT: that's why sometimes people will still call the 'Mastiff' an 'English Mastiff', it saves confusion :)

I have the English Mastiffs, i have every colour, but have to say brindle is my all time favourite.

bullmastiffs come in red, fawn and brindle though there is large variation within each colour- if you can see my avatar the big boy in the middle and our wee girly are both reds but Keeper (pup bitch) is an apricot red where as Tio (my boy) is a really rich copper colour. similarly our first bitch cassie was white fawn, like platinum blond colour (made her mask look brilliant) and our kizzy is kind of an ash coloured fawn.

all must of course have a black mask and minimal white on their chests, none is permissable anywhere else- i think this applies for the mastiff as well

Yup have seen pics of the Tibetan Mastiff and the Spanish Mastiff- We are set on the Mastiff (english)....

Totally set on a brindle since we both really like that for a color :)

glad you've managed to come to a decision. to be honest i think i''ll be for a mastiff next time i get to pick a dog (we're getting one of my parents dogs, the boy for me and my bf so he gets next pick lol i think he is set on an akita)

brindle is gorgeous.

my dad loves brindle but my mum really doesn;t like them so we've never had one...its a shame, as we have the 3 at the mo it would have been nice to arrange maybe one of each lol

When we have seen Mastiffs have always seen the other colors, we have only seen brindle ones on the net- I think they are just lovely- plus my bostons are brindle, my male only has a lil brindle on his hip tho. Tiva is a red brindle,
T-Bone is more an orange color brindle, Dozer is a dark brindle and Junior well he's black and white with the brindle on his hips. :)
