Hi,
We have a 6 month old pup and are hoping to show her, though no great drama if we don't. She seems to be developing nicely - correct coat, great ear set, perfect teeth, tail not sure as she is a previously docked breed and noone seems to agree on what the tails are supposed to do yet :-) - her breeders like the look of her a lot and she is very confident and "showy".
She has been poorly recently with bad tummy upsets. Fecal tests showed campylobacter and chlostridium perfrengens and she has been treated for these and all should hopefully now be well. Apparently lots of dogs are carriers of these bugs without symptoms, but she seems to be one of the ones who does.
Due to the above she lost a fair bit of weight and condition. She is now gaining weight back and as she is a stripped breed I can strip her coat back and hopefully the new growth will be fine again.
However, she seems very leggy, with little Betty Spaghetti front legs. They may look longer due to her being thin at the moment. I know it's rare to have a pup that doesn't have an awkward teenager stage, but would you say that now she's getting all the nutrients from her food again, she will even out in all probability? Or does a leggy puppy tend to stay that way?
We are in no hurry to start showing her. We go to ringcraft as this will be the first dog we have considered showing so have lots to learn.
Any thoughts?
K
