If my puppy is 12 months old on the date of the show can I still enter him in the puppy class?

Check the rules - usually that's okay.

Yes have checked the rules, just wondered how it would be interpreted when it states
"not exceeding 12 calendar months of age on the first day of the show"  I seem to think I can enter him in puppy.

If he is 12 months old on the first day of the show he can enter puppy as he doesn't exceed 12 months on that day.

I had a pup who had her first birthday on the first day of a Champ show and on checking with the secretary I was told to enter her in Junior.  Depends on how the secretary interprets it I suppose?

This happened with a shwo last eyar that oen of my puppy owners was entering (in this case it was minor puppy and she went in both minor pupy and puppy as she was 9 months on the first day fo the shwo, ti was Driffield, she won both the classes too.

LOL being in Junior didn't do mine any harm she got her first RCC :D  and I'd been worried she'd look too babyish.  I've often wondered if the judge thought "Bless! it's her birthday" :D :D

From memory it's counted from the first day of the show so if still pup then you should be ok.

I entered my girl in Junior at  18 months & 1 day at a Ch Show (we were the 3rd day I think.  Whatever it was I triple checked the schedule ;-)).  The judge (an experienced one)was told her age, she raised an eyebrow, smiled then gave me the class & Best Bitch :-D

Teh definition is 'not exceeding 9/12/18 months'  and not 'under 12 months' on the first day of the show. m So if they are that age on the first day of the show they can still go in minor puppy/puppy/ Junior etc.

Yes - I asked about this recently as at a show a dog that was 12m on the day won the junior class (no puppy class on) but didn't get best puppy. The show secretaries decision was that the dog that won the class wasn't a puppy and we got the best puppy award.

Having asked a few people after and it was also peoples opinion at the show that the secretary was wrong - nothing can be done about it I guess the show secretary misinterpretated it incorrectly.

There is a champ show coming up soon and i was asking people the same thing as my pup is 12mnths on the 1st day of the show. I was told that i can still enter him into puppy class if i choose..
