I have a 6 month old labrador pup and go to ringcraft classes with her. I have been told that some of the time when she is moving in the triangle shape or when she is standing, she is showing slight signs of cow-hocks in her back legs. Can this conditon be easily rectified and if so how does one go about it. Also can it be weight related
I dont give her much in the way of exercise as she is still growing so I try and limit how much she gets. She does not get alot of off lead exercise at the mo either
Im pretty sure if she is a bit on the heavy side then that won't be helping. You could try swimming, thats excellent because its non weight bearing so wont damage her growing bones and will give her the muscle tone she needs.
another idea is to feed her using a dog stand, ie, put her bowls for drinking and food on a dog stand and adjust the height so that she is standing square and not bending forward to eat, this helps with digestion as well as muscular xx
Personally I would give her off lead exercise as long as it is on soft ground. I would keep any hard road walking down to a minimum. This could well be a growth thing and yes it could come right in time and maturity.
