Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Record number of Chs?
- By Soli Date 28.05.07 05:48 UTC
I was just wondering what the record is (any breed) for how many UK Champions in a litter, or maybe even the precentage of Champions.

The reason I'm asking is that my very good friend bred a litter almost eight years ago.  There were six puppies, 2 dogs and 4 bitches.  She kept a bitch, another bitch went to a show home as did a dog.  The other 3 went to pet homes (one of which was her daughter).  The bitch she kept was made up, as were the dog and bitch who were in show homes.  Then she was asked to take back the dog from the pet home.  This she did - and made him up too!  Her daughter decided her bitch should be shown - and THAT got made up!  So there were 5 Champions from a litter of 6.  Now it turns out that the person who had the last bitch for a pet wants to take her to a few shows.  So they arrange with my friend to go to SKC for a weekend away.  You guessed it  - THAT bitch got the bitch ticket!  I've told my friend she should go all out now to make it 6 out of 6 puppies becoming UK Champions :d  That really is some litter!

WOW very impressive
Reading my champions book it looks like in my breed its 3, done 3 times.  Doesn't say how many in the litter though.

Well in my breed an entire litter was made up, but there were only the two :D  One of each sex.  One is the sire of my champion bitch Jozi and other champions ans winners, and the other has produced a string of winning children and grandchildren

We have 2 litters in Munsters with 4 Sh.Ch.'s within each.

Litter of 5 born in 1985 - 2 dogs & 2 bitches were titled here and the remaining dog sold to Scandanavia won well there too.

Another litter born in 2001.  3 dogs & 1 bitch have gained their Sh.Ch. titles (All 3 males having won a CC at Crufts too!) and another bitch out of the litter won the BCC at WELKS last month.

The last bitch to be shown took her second ticket at the Club Show (with BIS!) and today at LKA took BOB and the single ticket on offer aged eight and half!

Oh wow, what a Christmas present! Bet that will be some party.

That is a fabulous achievement in anyone's book, hope we'll see the story and pictures splashed over the dog press?

That must be the ultimate to have a whole litter made up.  Two toip exhibits in my breed were the brother and sister Ch Kestos Quicksilver and Ch Kestos Quicstep (who won a crufts group too), and they were the only two pups in their litter, but 6 that's amazing.

Now that's a well thought out litter! A magnificent achievement! :D :D

The dogworld website has a page with Britain's All-Time tops which details the top sires & dams. Looks like the most champions in one litter was previously 5.

Well the front page of the dog press answers my question doesn't it!  I didn't realise it was an all time, all breed record (thought it might be in the top few) and neither did my friend   When I contacted the paper they said they were going to put something in but I didn't know it was going to be headline news LOL!

I don't get the dog papers anymore but am thrilled it's front page, do they have a photo of all 6 champions?
- By Soli Date 14.12.07 14:38 UTC
No there's just a pic of Bernadette and the judge with the bitch that got made up at LKA.  Apparently there's going to be more of an indepth interview in one of the columns next week.

The sad footnote to all this is that four years ago Bernie lost the bitch she kept from that litter whilst out walking.  She just disappeared never to be seen again dispite huge advertising :(  She had already been made up and was in her prime - Bernie was thinking about having a litter from her.  We are all of the opinion that she was shot or killed somehow but no-one owned up to it.  They're so distinctive as a breed that someone would have noticed her anywhere in the country had she been stolen.  It's taken Bernie all this time to be able to even talk about her.  :(

It was so sad, as she had moved out to the country inorder that there woudl be safer excersisign options even than the country Park she and I both used.

Hi Debs,

I thought the front page pic in DW was fabulous :)  Glad she was given such a high profile and will look forward to reading more next week.

How sad about the lost bitch - a tragedy and one that doubtless haunts your friend :(   I'd bet she would rather have her girl safely by her side than any records or glory - fate can often deal such a cruel blow. However it's a wonderful achievement and testment to her in depth knowledge that she produced such an outstanding litter!  Many congratulations to her.

How awful to have lost her girl like that. But WOW what an outstanding litter to have produced!!

Hi I'm new here, but would like to echo what others have said, superb litter. How terrible to have a dog vanish into thin air, somehow it's easier to get over even if a body is found, it's the not knowing thats worse. However, the legacy of her brothers and sisters live on in her memory. And what a wonderful achievement for the breeder, I suspect years of getting to know her lines, type and pedigree research, GREAT.
