Topic Dog Boards / Showing / which clippers/trimmers for boxer ?
- By aimibobs [gb] Date 17.09.07 12:27 UTC
I am looking for some battery operated trimmers to tidy whiskers and feathering on my boxers and wondered if any of you can recommend any and sites where I can buy from. I currently use Hubby's hair clippers and he is not amused !!!!!!!
Many thanks, Aimi.

Well, I'm speechless! LOL I never knew you needed clippers or trimmers for a boxer??? :D

Yes, it take about 5 mins to get them de-whiskered, de-feathered etc, and 10 mins for a bath !!!

I'm so glad I havent got a "coated" breed !!! Boy it looks hard work - I was watching the grooming at Darlington and thanking God I was showing a boxer !!

Mind you we have our work cut out trying to tame their exuberence in the ring rather than their coats !!!

Wanna swop and do my Newfie for me??? LOL :D

Blimey! I'm glad we don't have to do that much with the dals! A nail trim and a bath is all that's needed - whiskers etc stay!

I wouldn't dream of trimming my Dobes whiskers or the long eyebrow hairs! I saw someone at a show doing just that to their Dobe though, before going in the ring - I don't see the point myself (no offence to anyone who does trim!), are those kinds of facial hairs really make or break at a show?

Depends on the judge probably - most Cavalier people take the long coarse hairs above the eyebrows off, and a few take whiskers off too, as some judges prefer the clean face. Yes I know the standard says no trimming, but that's what happens!

Well apart from brushing and combing in my thick double coated bred no trimming is allowed, though in the USA they barber them and it looks awfully unnatural.

I have ordered a pair of wahl pet trimmers in the end. It will stop my young one from trying to chew Hubby's clippers lead and nearly electrocuting herself  !!

let me know what they are like as mine are on their last legs.  I was using a nicky clarke set lol. They've lasted 4 years think the motor is on the way out :-)
