Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Border Union / Forth Road Bridge

Hi,

Hope this is the correct place to post this.

Has anyone had to cross the Forth Road Bridge at the weekend recently on their way to a show? I was wondering if anyone had a rough idea of the traffic build up and times it has taken to get across. Will most likely get lost if I try and change my route!!

We are second in the ring but intend to leave quite early, just not sure how early  this needs to be.

Thanks.

Not sure but I would remember Kincardine Brigde have long delays at the moment. So I would say alot of
people will use the Forth Road Bridge instead.

From hearing people talking at local open shows its apparently horrendous so leave more time than you think you will need to get across it

Hi

There are contra-flows on the Forth Road Bridge from Friday evening until late Sunday evening.  If you are leaving early enough in the morning you should be fine but expect a delay in getting home.  I hate the Kincardine bridge as it always seems to have tail backs.  I know sometimes if I am going North it is easier to go via Stirling.  If you log onto http://www.feta.gov.uk/ you should get details and a phone number for up to date information.

Dundee open shows judging was delayed on Saturday morning because of the bridge tailbacks.

I'm going to BU via Stirling, saying that, I am picking a friend up at Dunblane enroute!

Hi, i cross the bridge every weekend. At the moment the tail backs are horrendous in both directions. Not sure what day you are travelling down but the traffic starts to tailback from 8.50 am (got it down to a fine art!!) on a Saturday and i would say Sunday is about 10am ish. If it is busy go down the slip road to Inverkeithing/park and ride but once you get down to the roundabout head for Forth road bridge again! This will cut out a lot of traffic jam. Hope this helps? Regards.

Thanks very much everyone. I am travelling on down on SUnday and thought that I may need to get to the Bridge about 6.30 or so. It will get me to Kelso too early for the breed but better that than too late!!

Good luck to everyone who is entered and have a safe journey.

If you leave really early it is fine. Traffic builds up after 11 ish and right through till about 4 pm..

This will probably sound really stupid to everyone but we are travelling back home to Perth for 2 weeks next Friday from Germany and I can't wait to see familiar things like the forth road bridge, and shops that I recognise. You don't realise the things that you miss until you don't have them or see them I suppose.

Good luck to everyone that are showing at BU.

Hey it isn't daft I feel like that when I have driven for 24 hours down south and back from a dog show. When I hit the forth Road Bridge it is a sight to see as I am 20 mins from home :-D

It was the same when we lived in England I use to love seeing the Welcome to Scotland sign on the motorway, sounds daft really. Oooo I'm all excited now!

Well your in for a treat, there is an Mcdonalds at the bridge and also a M&S food court now at the BP connect.  Makes the bridge a worthy visit these days :-D

Awww M&S I just love their food, might have to stop there then.

DO NOT GO ON THE FORTH ROAD BRIDGE.......

It is hellish, I can clarify that.    Never again will I ignore the signs & the A8000 being empty.

What time did you try to cross the Bridge? I was hoping to get across about 6.30 and return via Stirling.

I went via Stirling this morning and a great run through but it felt so long.     The A8000 was empty when I got to that area so that's why I tried the Forth on the way home but the road where Dundas Park Golf course is off etc. what gridlocked.    40+ minutes to the tolls, this was nearing 6pm this eveing.

Is anything going on at Kincardine Bridge, not to use that?

I came home via Kincardine Bridge from SKC and although there were some roadworks there was no backlog of traffic.
