Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Frequency of judging appointments?

Is it normal for the same judge to be judging a breed at two different champ shows less than two months apart?

Super judge. A breed specialist, very knowledgable and I have no axe to grind.....but we have been judged by this judge before and binned so looks like we'll be spectating only :( :(

Unless single sex CC's i presume you don't have tickets at either show?  It is bad form especially for the second show:rolleyes:  It does happen in rare/av/import sometimes

Hi Debs, I would have thought they had signed a contract for the shows stating the time and distance requirements??? Does seem very odd??? Perhaps the KC or the shows themselves can help if you contact them?? All the best, Dawn X

As Newfie says, most Ch show contracts for breeds without CCs state that you mustn't judge the breed within 6 months minimum (mostly 9 or 12 months) AND within a certain milage radius.  Sounds dodgy to me....

No CCs at either show :(

I, personally, don't want to involve the KC......

Just having a petulant little foot stamp as I'd have really liked to enter the second show!

Watching will be fun.....nah it WILL......honest it will..........:-D :-D

If CCs on offer KC rule is 12 moths minimum. If no CCs depends on the contract with the shows concerned, although I ebt the 2nd show will not be happy people.

whilst not involving the KC:cool: it might be worth giving the Sec of the second show a ring and asking what their criteria is  I am sure when I have judged without CC's at Champ Show level there have still been terms etc.  Are you sure it is not another family member or something?  Or even a printing error?

We have the same judge doing our breed without CC's at Three Counties and Darlington I am told.

Good grief Barbara!  That's not on in a numerically small breed.  I refuse to judge non CC appointments more than once every two years.  It's not fair on the exhibitors, the society or myself as any placings will, of course, effect entries for the next show.

He only judged South Wales without CC's in 2005.  As you know once every two years is quite enough in numerically small breeds.

The breed will usually draw a better entry with new Judges (especially those all rounders that show a genuine interest, or up and coming breed specialists) without CC's as it makes for an expensive Open show.

For example our Bath judge is judging with CC's for the third time since Lexi was a Puppy (born Sept 2003), she was BPIB under him first time and CC and BOB the next which means I won't show her under him this time, and will have to take my Veteran who he gave a RCC to 2 1/2 years ago.  Obviously I ahve doen well under that judge but would prefer not to have them judging so often.

I know, I'm sure this is why the years go so fast, as we're always working months ahead.
