Hi all

Can anyone tell me if my dogs need liver, kidney etc in their diet if they are on BARF. I tried it out today and the pup loves it but Sable turned her nose up and just ate everything else around it. Was kinda funny to watch but just couldn't get her to try it. If I am going to continue with feeding raw ( not quite 2wks yet) I dont want to end up having to give too many supplements to compensate for not getting what is needed from their food.

You could try flash frying it to see if she will touch it then :)

My oldest dog hates raw liver. He takes it off to his bed and rolls on it - but won't eat it. So I put the liver in the blender with some veggies and he eats it without a problem :)

Mines the same...blended with veges and heart it goes down a treat.I even add some tinned fish occasionally and they love it!

Mine gets a meal of lamb kidneys and a sliver of liver about once a week - I also use liver cake as a training aid so she gets an intake there as well :D  I do make a point of including offal (I dont class heart as offal - although some books will) as it is, of course, part of the prey animal model in small amounts :)  I also feed whole rabbits that have kidneys, liver still in tact!

I have never found out if my Labs like liver or not. they open mouths, I throw it.....dont think they have actually tasted it yet :D :D

If your dog won't eat raw liver as is, mince it up with some mince meat................

Liver is full of Vitamin A and a very good food for dogs about once a week.

Tis a laxative too.
