My 14 week old Chihuahua seems to be wanting to eat more and more. He also seems to be having big poos for a dog his size(he is just under 3 lbs.) I am very unsure of how much food I should give him in a days time. I usually give him 2 tablespoons at a time, but he looks at me for more. I feel I may be over feeding him. How much food should I give a pup this size throughout the day? Answers greatly appreciated.

First of all what are you feeding him? How often in a day?  How much does it say to give him at a time or in a day?

are his poos solid or soft?

I'm feeding him Iams Puppy formula. Usually 2 Tablespoons in the morning, noon and at night. He probably gets more though, because he seems like he is looking for more. His poos are solid.

The only way you can gauge is not by appetite but by the pups condition.  If it's ribs and backbone are showing too clearly then it needs more if you can barely feel the back ribs and can't discern a waist then the pup is too fat.  Many dogs will eat whatever you give them and get fat.

What did thew breeder say about feeding quatities as they would know what the aveerage Chi pup eats at various ages.
