my 11 month old weimaraner has a really sensitive stomach, we've tried her on so many different foods but she still has runny eyes and runny poos. what can feed her?

Have you tried Chappie yet, it has a decades long history of being very well tolerated by sensitive digestions, the runny eyes though suggested an allergy to me, have you spoken to your vet about testing for what, specifically, is bothering her.

hi Isabel, no haven't tried chappie yet so will do that. the vet seems to think she is allergic to corn or wheat but all the foods without these that we have tried have made her sick. she's such a happy girl in everything else and her eyes never seem to bother her but i obviously want her to be as healthy as possible!

You could check around the house and see if you can elliminate anything else that may be troubling her like carpet cleaners, air fresheners etc, nothing works as well as opening windows anyway :)

Hi setdep,

You say the vet thinks she may be allergic to corn or wheat?
If you are trying to avoid wheat (and GLUTEN - this is actually the protein in wheat which makes wheat doughs elastic and is also contained in rye and barley.  It can be a real problem for some people and animals leading to chronic diarrhoea and debilitation ) then it may be a good idea to try and avoid rye and barley as well.

You don't say which foods you have already tried but Burns, Burgess Supa Dog Sensitive, Pero Chicken and Rice are free of the grains you mention, there are others and there's always home-made foods and Barf. Whatever you try remember that it can take a week or so for the gut to settle and in the case of gluten intolerance it can take a month or even more.  Yoghurt is very good for curing runny tum - except when there is dairy intolerance when it will make it worse :(

Hope this helps
regards
Dill

I would definately give your dog probiotic capsules, available from any health food shop :)

Have you had her allergy tested by Yorktest?

The best commercial food for dogs in the UK is Naturediet, meat, rice and carrots vacuum packed "wet" food.

If you prefer dry then IMHO Burns is the best, again just meat, rice and veggies.

both have websites, both home deliver.
