Hi, my staffy boy has always been a greedy gannet, he will wolf his food down and always lick his bowl clean and still expect more! Although just recently I've put him on two meals a day. I feed him Eukanuba as this is what his breeder fed him and he's always been alright with this, I always mix water with it aswell. Since I've put him on two meals a day he seems to leave most of it. I thought maybe it's coz I put a lot down for him and it's too much for one sitting. I usually give him scrambled egg with his food in the mornings and occasionaly mixe plain live yoghurt with it, which he adores. Do you think he is getting fed up with Eukanuba all the time? I sometimes give him a can of tuna fish (oil or springwater) instead which he wolfs down. This morning I gave him his food which he left so I mixed tuna with it. He ate this and left some of his Eukanuba. I have just spent over 30 quid for a 15kg bag so I hope that he will come out of this fad! Your opinions will be very much appreciated.

i have a 3 year old male staffie & he is also very greedy!! i feed him on pedigree complete which i have done so for about a year. i have tried james wellbeloved & various others, some he ate very well & others he would'nt touch! someone once told me there is not a great deal of difference in the dry complete foods! i just found one he liked & kept him on it!!
We have a year old Staff and she is a good eater as well. We feed her Skinners muesli £11 per 15kg as her breeder had fed it to her dogs for 14years. I wouldnt use Eukanuba as it is cruelly tested on animals, dogs in fact and not just feeding it to them!
We give her eggs for breakfast on their own and two meals after sometimes with fish and meat. The thing is, is it just a few days when he's not eating the dry because Giorgia is like that sometimes. She'll eat it all one day and another day wont. Because we know it isnt a problem, we just leave her food down for her and sometime she'll go and eat it at 8.00 at night depending on her mood
.
But if you think it is a behaviour problem and not just like above or that he hasnt gone off the food then it is said that you should put his food down for him then leave it for 15 minutes then remove whats left. He will then get used to the fact that the food will disappear and he could go hungry if he doesnt eat it.Then his eating should pick back up.
If you think he has gone off the food, perhaps you could sell the bag to the breeder and try somethingelse.
It seems doubtful that there is any medical reason why he's not eating as he eats other 'tastier' foods but you could see your vet just in case . I cant think of any other options, hope this helps

I'm afraid you are encouraging him to be fussy.I suggest you stop adding water to his complete and put it down for him.Leave it for 5 mins and then take it away...put what is left back in the bag and don't give him anything till his next meal then do the same. Look at it from his point he is now learnig that if he doesn't eat his complete you will add some nice goodies and he can eat that.Lets face it if we gave our kids a choice of chocolate or a nice plate of veges which would they eat!
