I've been feeding my lab puppy on complete dry food since we got him with the odd training treat inbetween but then I read loads of posts on here about RAW feeding (you know it never even occured to me that you can feed a dog raw meat!) so last night instead of kibble for dinner I gave Kobi a chicken wing, well I have never seen him look so excited! It sounds stupid but I never thought that a small puppy would be able to tear meat and bones up like that it was fantastic to watch. What I wanted to know is, is it OK to give him a chicken wing every couple of days as a replacement for one of his meals?

Hi Sarah
Can I suggest you get hold of one or two of the raw feeding books - the one I generally recommend is Ian Billinghurst's "Grow Your Pup With Bones". One chicken wing will probably not be sufficient for a meal for a lab pup - why not study the subject and consider switching completely to a raw diet if you like the look of it.

Yes you can give chicken wings as a treat. You can also start introducing other meaty bones aswell....if he liked chicken wings try pork ribs,ox tail, lamb breast, pigs trotters, rabbit etc.RMB's are great for teething and great exercise for jaws and neck muscles.
I've been feeding BARF for about a year now and I STILL love to watch them tear into a nice meaty bone.
